Batman 3 may have just gotten a little closer to happening. Director Christopher Nolan is currently working on Inception, but also on his schedule was 'The Prisoner', a sci-fi movie based on the short-lived 60s television series of the same name.

Cine Fools recently spoke with one of the project’s producers Barry Mendel, who revealed that Chris Nolan has dropped out of The Prisoner. That leaves Nolan free to devote his full attention to Batman 3, once Inception is finished.

For tose interested 'The Prisoner' is still moving forward. They have a first draft script from David and Janet Peoples, the writers of Twelve Monkeys. Good choice if they can deliver a similar asthetic to the confusing and mysterious world of The Prisoner.

this doesn't say anything, really. it just says he stepped away from doing the prisoner. it isn't confirmed that he did it so he can work on batman 3. lets not get excited for nothing.

That kind of sucks, I was looking forward to Nolans take on The Prisoner. Goooooood news for bat fans though!

Gordon levitts career is reaaaaaaaaaallyy taking off. He actually has a role in INCEPTION @gunsmith. So it may not be that far fetched. He looks a helluva lot like ledger

Though The Dark Knight was one of my favourite ever film im more excited for Captain America, Thor and The Avengers! Though as they're coming about betweeen 2010 - 2012 I just wonder whether WB will try and avoid releasing Batman 3 the same year that they all come out!?

still, if it ends up HALF as good as TDK, i cant wait especially if its back in Nolan's brilliant hands! :)

it could easily come out in mid july,2012, since the avengers come out on may 4 2012( a month and a half after the avengers) and in 2012 there are no more harry potter movies, meaning Batman 3 could take the summer slot.

i agree with ironknight, BANE! the original character, big, powerfull, and extremley intelligent. grew up in a prison and was haunted by bats. i dont think they should save him for later because i honestly dont think it will go beyond a 3rd movie.

@Charbelenasr. I was saying that because of casting, buget, the fact that they still haven't decided on a script, and the time needed for set production, rehersals, costume design, actual filming, post production, editing, marketing. It could easilly be that long before we get Batman 3

i want bane in a sequel too. he always gets the shaft in movies and cartoons and games. does everyone forget that in knightfall he was portrayed as a criminal mastermind, ON TOP of being a powerhouse?? it would make more sense, deadshot could be his henchman or something, deadshot is never the brains of an operation anyway.

I am glad he will be doing it... Hope. I say they will only go with popular and well known villains like Riddler, Penguin, Poison Ivy or Freeze an so on. I would love Bane but prefer them to wait. I want to see like the story... Let the villains out and Batman runs crazy to get them back. Then Bane steps in. But again I believe they will only go with more original villains.

cindar- I agree I dont think that Nolan or Bale are going to make a movie beyond the 3rd one if they even make the 3rd one. They could still use another villain like the Penguin or Riddler as well.

In a 3rd movie I would like to see the villains wanting to take Gotham over now that there is no real Mob power base in order to control Gotham's underworld.

CorndogBurglar- I have always liked Bane and I would love to see him done right. He has as much brain as he does brawn.

no penguin or riddler, those guys are so lame...

the coolest thing about batman begins, to me, is that the villains were scarecrow and r'az al ghoul (however you spell it). 2 lesser known villains outside the comic world.

I like UltimateHobgoblin666 idea of having Black Mask in a film. He is also a lesser known villain but is just as sick and twisted as the Joker.

GOTTA BE RIDDLER, THEY COULD MAKE HIM LIKE PUPPETHEAD IN THE SAW MOVIES, INGENIOUS AND USING SMARTS TO SCREW WITH GOTHAM, THEN FREEING THE MOST DANGEROUS PRISONERS IN ARKUM TO MAKE IT WORSE FOR BATS. I think Nolan's world is to real to life for such villains as Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Clayman, etc. I like the idea of The Black Mask, as like a new mob boss. But The Mad Hater and Scarface (The Ventriloquist) would be awesome to finally see on the big screen. I want to see more lesser know villains like in "Batman Begins"

I think Levitt is a great actor just watch "brick" but forget about the opinion that he looks alot like Heath does anyone here actually think that anybody could re-capture the pure genius that was Heaths joker,NO ONE! will and to think that anybody could is retarded
