David S. Goyer and Jonah Nolan Writing Batman 3?

A scoop from Deadline has the duo already at work on a sequel to The Dark Knight!

Goyer out of Flashforward to concentrate more on films:

"As my feature projects have started ramping up again, I felt I was being pulled in too many directions," Goyer said. "I'm proud of the show and excited about the relaunch. It's in great hands."

Deadline has this report that one of those features is none other than the third in the series of Chris Nolan's Batman, a follow-up to that superb Dark Knight movie.

Here is what they had to say:
Of course, Goyer's feature career is really heating up, since he co-wrote Batman Begins, and penned the story for The Dark Knight, and is now writing the third Batman installment with Chris Nolan's brother Jonah.

Access: Its high time they revisit this again. I really want Chris Nolan to do another one before he let it go to another director.

I want to see the Riddler, Black Mask and maybe even a version of Clayface that isn't the same exact thing as Sandman.

Hellyeah, Great news. Can't wait for this movie and very confident these guys can give us another great film. I would love to see The Riddler hire Bain to hunt Batman down. I'm talking about the Bain from the comicbooks.

YEAHOOOOH! DARK KNIGHT, DEADSHOT, DEATHSTROKE (I want to
finally see him here so bad--THE PEARLMAN should play him!),
with BLACK MASK and that confounded RIDDLE-MAN pulling at
the strings in different directions and BATMAN entangled
in between them!

Oh good! Although, I'm sad to see him leave Flash Forward. But if it's to write this, I'm all for it!

Y'know, it seems to me that it would flow better with the storyline if they went with Penguin. Considering that Gotham is dealing now with a corrupted govenrment that Harvey ultimately failed to fix, and Penguin has always really represented the corruption of Government/Big Business, it only seems logical that the current course of the Nolan series would take it in that direction.

Sorry, but I'm still skeptical about where production is on the third installment. Until I hear word from Chris Nolan, I'll just reserve judgement, and excitement.

You know, what I think would be pretty cool for a sequal would be if TwoFace came back and was now running the mob. And in order to keep things running smoothly he hires an outside hitman (DeadShot) to hunt down the Dark Knight. But the mob has some new problems because theres a new player in town cutting in on there business and leaves behind sinister clues or "riddles", hehe. So not only does Batman have to deal with TwoFace and the mob, A hired hitman and the lawdogs on his tail. He has to deal with some psycho leaving twisted riddles at crime scenes and setting traps for the Bat. And what would be perfect is if TwoFace had limited appearences and was more of a background charactor that way your not floaded with to many villans but they are still ecknowledged. I have many other ideas for other villans but I'll save that for fanfiction someday. You could also have Batman and gordan working secretly together. Definatly have Batman in his new wayne manor and a complete BatCave with all the fixins and a new batmobile of course. Maybe introduce either Salina Kyle or Talia Al Ghul for possible love interests. Plus we would get to see more of Bats being the worlds greatest detective. These are just one idea, which I have many but what do you guys think?? Some things good, Some things bad? Thoughts? Besides there just ideas, you can always change an idea.

Thinking too much as always, R.R.

P.S. Also had ideas involving Killer Croc, ClayFace, Catwoman, and the return of Ra's Al Ghul. Excelsior Chums!!!

I actually kinda think that in Nolan's universe it would be cool to have "The Ventiloquist" there. Just think about it a man straight out of Arkham with a creepy little toy on his hand, with wild and dangerous scitzophrenia. on one side you have the neurotic scared whipping boy, then under pressure you see the dark dangerous side emerge through this pieced together doll... I think it has potential

Riddler portrayed as a serial killer instead of the mobster/criminal type, leaving clues at each grisley murder scene(like the zodiac did). They can even pull a "silence of the lambs" and have batman get help from scarecrow because riddler was once a patient of his - or - have riddler ahead of the game because his alias is a police psychiatrist.

48and2 - 2/8/2010, 10:41 AM
I'll say this much: I never watched the series, but Flashforward got ALOT of press and was highly touted at the beginning. I do know the show was Goyer's baby, like Inception is Chris Nolan's. So for how close Goyer is to Batman, for him to be dropping his baby so soon is probably a good sign.

The earlier statement, "there is always a third one"... not always. Ghostbusters, Men In Black, Addams Family, Hellboy (granted these are probably all coming) - and there are more.

But when your movie cracks $1 billion gross, you can bet your ass there will be a third heh.

At this point I have one request, and one request alone: Depp as The Riddler. The rest I will deal with.

I think many of you have outstanding ideas. Keep 'em coming, because there is no doubt our thoughts and opinions are, at least in part, pushing the film.

To Warner Bros and Nolan bros:

Get it done before Caine and Freeman kick the bucket.

@ A7, I agree, the Riddler should be a stand alone villan meening he mostly works by himself and in his sick little game his desire is to outsmart, unmask, and ultimately kill the Batman and prove he is the smartest. But in my opinion Johnny Depp would be all wrong for the part. Granted he is a very talented actor I feel the Riddler need to be played buy someone of a different caliber. Maybe Daniel Craig or someone like that, I don't know. Thoughts?

comeo on now, deathstroke is NOT a batman villain. if they were going to put him in a movie, it would be a teen titans movie, not batman.
