Gary Oldman Teases The "Epic" Conclusion Of The Batman Trilogy In The Dark Knight Rises!

Talking to MTV News while promoting the US release of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Gary Oldman has commented on the highly anticipated third and final Batman movie from director Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises. "I will say this: There's a conclusion. He touches on the first [film] and weaves it in. It resolves. I think it's a trilogy. It's just great. The story is terrific. It is just epic."

"I think it was smart of Chris to go with a lesser-known villain rather than — because Heath's performance, first of all, we love the Joker in Batman," he revealed when quizzed about how Tom Hardy's Bane will match up to the iconic villain seen in the 2008 movie. "Heath's performance was so dazzling that you got to think, 'How the hell do I top it?' Instead of going for Riddler, instead of going for Penguin, he's gone a slightly different way with the story."

And while you may think the main motivation behind Christopher Nolan making a third Batman movie was money after the huge success of The Dark Knight, think again says Oldman. "I think [Nolan's] got enough smarts and enough class. I know this much about Chris Nolan: He wouldn't make a third for the sake of it."

I believe in Nolan and his team. We have an amazing cast and a stellar production team. Do you guys really think its going to suck? That's rediculous. Wait for the trailer.

Will it top TDK? I doubt it but hopefully. It will be better than BB for sure.

it'll be an epic fail -- that braveheart scene where there's a war on the streets of gotham is so stupid... i hate how nolan jams extras into the movie and makes them key to the plot.... they look like hollywood actors, not gotham citizens

I'm tired of hearing about this film. It's going to be the suck almost as much as "Batman and Robin". Why? BECAUSE NOLAN AND GOYER DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO A PROPER INTERPRETATION OF A SINGLE BATMAN VILLAIN!!!!!!!! Ledger's Joker was a sick joke (no pun intended). I miss Schumacer! "Batman Forever" was the greatest "Batman" film I've ever seen.

@Ranger- Names like The Joker, Riddler, and Penguin are well known in pop culture and to the general audience. Us comicbook fanboys, who are not really considered the general audience, know the Bane character much better than the average viewer. So yeah, I get what Oldman was saying.
