A while back several big Black Panther Fans and I started a discussion about what we would like to see in and what we would like the highly anticipated movie to sound like. Our suggestion was that Ryan Coogler and Marvel hire Kanye West to create the soundtrack. This is what we imagined it would look like...

15 tracks (not in any particular order) Enjoy.

Kanye West - Power

What I consider the T'Challa's anthem and a perfect track to open up the film on...

Burna Boy - Yawa Dey

You've probably never heard of this guy but Burna Boy is a pretty big deal in Nigeria. This is the kind of beat I could imagine as we get a look at T'Challa's lavish and not so serious day to day lifestyle.

LORDE - Everybody Want To Rule The World

What better tune is there to introduce us to a villain like M'Baku aka Man Ape?

TemiDollFace - Pata Pata

I'll be seriously disappointed if we don't see Monica Lynne in this movie. I picture her character and music to be deep and layered. Ryan Coogle is know for creating well developed characters so I'm excited.

ASA - Jailer

Here's another song I could see Monica Lynne performing by an artist I personally love. Get a hold of them lyrics tho... #foreverrelevant

Kwabs - Last Stand

This is the music you want for that steamy sex scene! Oh wait, this is a Marvel movie lol almost forgot how family friendly this probably going to be... How about a death then?

Kanye West - Diamonds Are Forever [Instrumental]

The enemy is plotting...

50 Cent - Animal Ambition

This is the part of the movie when we see T'Challa use his genius to uncover whatever plot the writers come up with.

Stromae - Silence

The training montage or the brilliant action sequence where we see the king take on the Hatut Zeraze aka Wakandan Secret Police, you chose but this track by Stromae is what I would have playing in the background.

Kanye West - Black Skinhead

I'm hoping to get one of those James Bond/Fast & Furious type car chases somewhere in this movie. Maybe we even could get a look at Black Panther's custom built Jet Bike?

K'NAAN - T.I.A

Now it would be really hard to imagine this soundtrack without This Is Africa by K'NAAN. The first time we see Wakanda in all of it's glory, this is what I want to hear.

Stanley Clarke - Justice's Groove

Kendrick Lamar - King Kunta

The true mastermind is revealed and it's time to take him down with style. Everything has lead to this and T'Challa ain't playing... That sound about right? What do you see when you hear Kendrick's hit and think of the Black Panther?

DBanj - Top Of The World

A bit corny I'll admit but this is that victory song that we need after the Black Panther has saved his people and legacy.

Kanye West - Lost In The World

It's the end of the movie and time to Drop The Beat!

A post about a (fan proposed) soundtrack for Black Panther that doesn't even not include any actual music??!??

And for what it's worth, I mentioned on another post Ludwig Goransson was the composer on Ryan Coogler's last two films, Creed & Fruitvale Station, so I have a feeling they'll work together on Black Panther too.

Not to mention, Ludwig's score for Creed is fantastic!

@imkennypowers - Yeah Ludwig is the best. Great composer and producer. His work with Ryan Coogler and Childish Gambino is marvelous.

AGREED!!

When I saw a criticism of CA:Civil War is the score, it clicked! Ludwig NEEDS to score the Infinity War films!!! I couldn't believe I hadn't thought of that before yesterday! more importantly, it's such a perfect idea I can't believe it hasn't happened yet. haha And the reason it "clicked" for me is he worked with the Russos twice before, Ludwig scored Community & Happy Endings, while the Russos were co-showrunners/EPs/directors on both series.

And personally, I believe one of the biggest & recurring things the MCU could improve upon is their scores!! I might have mentioned it on here before, but a while ago I remember thinking, why don't any of the Avengers have their own recognizable theme/music in the MCU??? Doesn't that seem odd?? Sure, they have their own themes/music in their films, but they don't stand out and are no where near iconic.
It just feels like such a missed opportunity to me. Maybe part of the reason it feels that way is Superman & Batman each have several iconic theme songs and music. Even non-comic book fans can recognize/know some of their themes/music when they hear them, ya know? And I LOVE how Zimmer & Junkie XL gave characters their own music. Catwoman in TDKR & Wonder Woman in BvS, especially were damn-near perfect! (Also, I loved how they flowed from Batman's music to Superman's music depending on who had the upper-hand in their fight. It was such a brilliant idea & impressively done, I didn't notice it until I saw BvS a 2nd time.)
Idk, I just appreciate/enjoy how characters' own recognizable sound/music gives their scenes its own unique tone/feel. I love how we can recognize Jaws, Michael Myers, Vader, etc. from just their music. We don't even need to see them, when we hear their music we KNOW it's them.
Sorry, for rambling there. A little more passionate and a lot more to say about that than I intend. hahaha.

Oh and I remember when I saw the premiere for Bonfire I listened to it so many times. hahaha

And I loved his version of Heartbeat on Conan.

And speaking of Gambino and Community, someone made this AWESOME mashup of "Freaks and Geeks" with scenes from Community.

I know, right?!? I watched like a dozen times in a row when I first saw it. It's so perfectly done I can't imagine how much time/effort it took them.

And I assume you're a Community fan, so you'll love this. Her video features almost all of Community's movie references, it's just as impressive/awesome:

@imkennypowers - Ludwig is Awesome and truthfully we came up with this idea long before Ryan Coogler was in the running to direct the movie but a Soundtrack and a Score are NOT the same thing!

@Blackreverend -

Your first two sentences contradict that this was long before Coogler.

"A while back several big Black Panther Fans and I..." "Our suggestion was that Ryan Coogler..."

Soundtracks and scores are NOT the same thing?!?!????

Please tell me more things I already know. hahaha.
In no way did I say/imply they're the same. Read my comment again, I said "And for what it's worth" as in the topics are related, but what I'm about to say is different.

I would lose my shit if "Diamonds From Sierra Leone" started playing as T'Challa was kicking ass in his movie. You can never go wrong with Yeezy.

What? Where's "Can U Ce the Pride in the Panther"? Sure it's technically a poem released when Mos was singing more than rapping, but it's still the PERFECT SONG for this movie.
