In the video above, Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo talk about everything from their relationship as brothers to why it's impossible to give the fans exactly what they want, but things get really interesting when they're asked about the possibility of someone replacing Steve Rogers as Captain America. "We are moving into a Phase with the storytelling where when we bring Captain America's story forward from Civil War, it's going to be into Avengers: Infinity War," Anthony explains. "That's the next chapter so to speak in his specific story and there's been no talk of where we go beyond that yet. Those are two gigantic movies that are intended to be the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, so there is going to be storytelling that happens in those films that we haven't seen yet in the MCU, so who's to say what the condition of the characters are at that point or who even makes it to that movie to begin with. Who makes it out of those movies is anybody's guess at this point..." So, it sounds like the door is open to BuckyCap or FalconCap!
Talk then turned to how the filmmakers plan on tackling the massive Avengers: Infinity War, with Joe revealing: "We start shooting in November, so we're literally getting the scripts from the writers in the next two weeks." Anthony then weighed in to explain why we should be looking at these movies as not necessarily one big story told over two parts, but two separate releases. "They're both very different movies. We aren't blocking them together because they're one long movie broken into two, we're blocking them together because that's the way you can assemble the massive cast that's required to shoot both of these movies and make it financially possible. That's the reason for shooting them back to back." It sounds like we're in for something very special with Avengers: Infinity War then, but the movies could end up playing out much differently than expected.
