In the Captain America: Civil War mid-credits sequence, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) are reunited, but things still don't bode well for Bucky. While all of Bucky’s memories have returned, he knows that his Hydra brainwashing could kick back in at any time with just a simple code word or phrase. While it's hard for Cap to accept, he respect's his friend's decision and says his goodbyes as Bucky is put back on ice. As we get a look around the advanced laboratory setting, Steve finds himself standing next to King T’Challa (Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman), whom he thanks for his help, but also warns that the government will come after him to get to Bucky. T’Challa fearlessly says, "let them try," as the camera pans and we finally get our first look at Panther's nation of Wakanda, including an iconic colossal Black Panther statue in the distance.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said that this scene was always planned to cap off the film to give the Bucky and Steve relationship some closure, but later decided that making the scene take place in Wakanda would be an added bonus for fans. "That was always sort of the idea for the end of the movie, and as the movie was being developed, it felt like it would be additionally cool to have that happen in Wakanda – a super advanced place. They’ve got something that he could go in. And also, it speaks to Panther’s arc. The person that he was out to kill early in the movie, he’s now nobly helping. And then, of course, that led organically to a cool moment, where Cap can go, ‘Thanks for doing this, but they’re going to come get you.’"

While it's clear this  was done to take Bucky off the playing field for a while, one can only wonder whether the Winter Soldier will make an appearance in the Black Panther standalone film! What were your thoughts on the sequence? How did you feel about getting your first glimpse of Wakanda? Sound off below!
