THE MARVELS Finally Addresses Two Of The Biggest Cliffhangers From CAPTAIN MARVEL And MS. MARVEL - SPOILERS

The Marvels is a relatively breezy adventure at just over 90 minutes, but the MCU sequel does still find the time to address two lingering plot threads from Captain Marvels and Ms. Marvel. Check it out...

Marvel Studios (briefly) considered introducing Captain Marvel at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, though the decision was soon made to give Carol Danvers her own origin story. That came our way four years later in 2019, though the '90s setting took a lot of fans by surprise.

Heading into the past proved to be a messy, somewhat convoluted way to add Carol to the MCU, with her memory issues far from an original plot beat. However, her team-up with Nick Fury was fun, as was seeing "Vers" break free of the Kree, remembering her true self and becoming the hero she was meant to be.

Captain Marvel ended with Carol vowing to deal with the Kree, though we'd next see her return to Earth decades later when she joined The Avengers and helped defeat Thanos.

Since then, we've had no idea what she's been up to or why she never returned to Earth. Well, The Marvels finally sheds some light on that by revealing Carol made good on her promise to Yon-Rogg by tracking down the Supreme Intelligence A.I. and destroying it once and for all.

However, as we explained earlier today, that led to civil war and Hala falling into ruin, with Carol - now dubbed "The Annihilator" - left so ashamed she couldn't face returning to Earth and seeing Maria and Monica again (we do learn that she visited Maria during her final battle with cancer while Monica was among those Blipped).

With that, the Kree-related cliffhanger is finally addressed, though it would have made much more sense for Jude Law's Yon-Rogg to take Dar-Benn's place as The Marvels' big bad given his history with Captain Marvel. Alas, his fate is left a mystery.

As for Ms. Marvel, the mystery surrounding Kamala Khan's bangle is explained when it's identified as a Quantum Band. As suspected, they're the same artefacts that were once worn by Avril Kincaid and Wendell Vaughn in the comics, and yes, they allow their user to travel through time and space.

The fact that Dar-Benn uses hers to inadvertently open the door to another reality shows the potential the Quantum Bands have in the MCU and we'd bet on them being tied to Kang in the same way Shang-Chi's Ten Rings likely are. Whether that's a plot point Marvel Studios intends to further explore moving forward is now hard to say, but at least the bangles no longer feel like a random Kree McGuffin young Kamala just happened to stumble across!

It definitely would’ve made sense for Yon-Rogg to lead the Kree as opposed to Dar-Benn. However, I’m sure they knew they needed a female villain, or else this would trigger the incel snowflakes and fit into their “white man bad” agenda they’re trying to throw around.

@NegativeNerd - I mean...sometimes the villain just isn't a male. I think if we stop fabricating agendas we'd realize things are pretty normal.

@NegativeNerd - I rather would have had Ronan the Accuser redeem himself somehow. And he’s a blue alien, would have made everyone satisfied I think

@NegativeNerd -

"Incel."

Incels would be opposed to the female casting choice. I think you meant to say, "woke."

@Tonic24k - you know what I mean. Yon-Rogg would’ve made more sense as he has history with Carol. Only ones fabricating an agenda are those saying they exist when they don’t.

@Matchesz - Ronan would’ve been cool. Very underutilized imo. But he be ded.

@tylerzero - lol that’s ironic, since you only use “woke” when referring to a female or POC lead. Nice try.

@tylerzero - I’m fine, maybe you need to. Using “woke” in the way you’re describing is incorrect and has nothing to do with CBMs.

@AlexGSpeaks - part of the work of the writer and director to make this feel organic if that is the case.

Otherwise it is just shoehorning cameos

Spoilery question: When we last see Kamala she's only wearing one of the quantum bands. Why not both, and where is the other one?

@NGFB - Carol had it and I believe that the idea was to separate them so as to keep that level of power, and potential danger, worlds apart

Quite a reach Josh.

"Well, The Marvels finally sheds some light on that by revealing Carol made good on her promise to Yon-Rogg by tracking down the Supreme Intelligence A.I. and destroying it once and for all. "

This should have been the entire movie. It's like the writers never heard of show don't tell before. Let's just throw away something that is so important to the Marvel cosmic canon by taking out Supreme Intelligence. So we have now ruined the Skrulls and the Kree because we can't write a plot for shit.

They showed Skrulls we've never even seen before with NO reference to Secret Invasion or the characters in it.

I still think more light has to be shed on the Quantum Bands, we only hear (again?) in the film that they're ancient artifacts but just that. More should be researched about them.

And ngl, the Supreme Intelligence was kind of wasted. Like MODOK.
