Now that The Marvels is in theaters - and the strikes are at an end - some revealing interviews with the cast have been published online, and THR has shared a particularly spoiler-filled chat with Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan).

If you haven't seen the movie yet, major spoilers follow.

At the end of the Captain Marvel sequel, Khan channels her inner Nick Fury when she recruits Hawkeye's Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) to the Young Avengers (whether that'll be the team's name remains to be seen). When asked about the scene, Vellani revealed that Kamala was originally going to drop by to see a different "Young Avenger," but doesn't name the character.

"There was a version of this in an old script, but we never shot it. And then there were rumors that we were going to get to it in additional photography, but with a different young Avenger. So I never really got the script until right before additional photography and then I flipped out. I immediately rewatched Iron Man and texted Nia in all caps. I was like, 'I cannot believe the honor that I am getting right now. This is crazy!' I did not need to rewatch that entire movie, but it didn’t hurt. So I was giddy the entire time. All of us were freaking out. It was also the last scene we shot for the movie, and it is the last scene of the movie."

Vellani also weighed in on the mid-credits scene featuring Beast and Binary, and it sounds like she was kept in the dark about what the sequence entailed until the very last minute.

"They shot the mid-credit scene during principal [photography]. They shot it earlier, so they knew what they were doing. But I thought it was going to be something else. I did not realize Beast [Kelsey Grammer] was in it. I knew they shot it, but I was expecting to see something else. And lo and behold, they kept the secret even from me. I literally jumped and had a heart attack on my bed when I watched it for the first time. I literally texted every single person we worked with, and I was like, 'How could you keep this from me?' But at least I got to experience it as a fan, which was so cool. I’m just so excited to see what they do with that in the future."

Could the X-Men-related scene have anything to do with Khan being ret-conned as a mutant in Ms. Marvel, perhaps?

"Yeah, I think they’re connecting a lot of things. They’re sprinkling in the mutants here and there. We saw [Charles Xavier] in Multiverse of Madness. So I honestly am not privy to what they’re doing with the X-Men and how they’re going to incorporate them, but it is extremely cool and a really big flex to have one in our own movie. Well, two, if you count me."

Finally, Vellani weighed in on the chances of a second season of Ms. Marvel.

"I am patient, and honestly, I hope all the love that Kamala is getting from this movie inspires people to be more vocal about wanting a season two. I would absolutely love to continue this story, and Kamala and her entire community has so much story left to tell. I want to see Bruno [Matt Lintz] again. I want to see Nakia [Yasmeen Fletcher] again, and that’s just me. So it would be really amazing to have a season two, and there’s so many different directions we can go with it."

"In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”

The film also stars Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon. Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Megan McDonnell, Nia DaCosta, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells.

The Marvels will begin its international rollout on November 8, and was recently granted a China release on November 10, day-and-date with North America.

I love this kid. I love her enthusiasm and charm.

@micvalpro - It's a shame Feige decided on making her discount Kamala in favor of Reed Richards. We can have two characters who stretch and embiggen, Kevo.

@McMurdo - she does stretch and embiggen...

@McMurdo - it's more upsetting that Thor NEVER wears his helmet than it is that they changed how Ms. Marvels powers work. I mean, they change alot of characters powers. Falcon doesn't talk to birds, Thanos doesn't have his energy blasts and Klaw never even became Klaw really

JustAWaffle - 11/14/2023, 8:14 AM
@Toonstrack - Yeah, but it’s more Green Lantern embiggening than stretchy.

Would have been cool to have her comic powers. I wouldn’t even mind having 2 like that in the MCU.

@McMurdo - her powers looked great in the action sequences in the movie.

@LeDiableBlanc - purple stuff. No thanks
McMurdo
McMurdo - 11/14/2023, 10:50 AM
@Toonstrack - her purple arm band powers stretch and embiggen, not her. Kamala Khan in the comics can embiggen herself.

Tonic24k - 11/14/2023, 2:52 PM
@McMurdo - This is some bottom shelf complaining right here. She still stretches and embiggens. So who cares if the live action version has hard light around it? Did you even watch the show? The essence of the character is captured very well.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 11/15/2023, 11:46 PM
@Tonic24k - she doesn't embiggen at all in the MCU. Her body stays completely the same. Her Green Lantern powers embiggen. Major difference. Her comic book counterparts actually can embiggen her body massively. And it's epic. The purple arm bands.....not epic at all and extremely generic.
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 11/15/2023, 11:59 PM
@McMurdo - She even says embiggen. And then she does. Just because it’s hard light instead of her skin stretching doesn’t mean that’s not what that is. That’s why these are called adaptations. They’re adapted to live action. And it works very well. This argument has long been put to rest. The movies aren’t the comics.

And calling it generic makes no sense. That’s not at all a word that describes this. If anything the rip off of Reed’s power is generic and unoriginal.
McMurdo
McMurdo - 11/16/2023, 12:15 PM
@Tonic24k - its not put to rest we are having it right now. purple green lantern powers are absolutely generic. having a character who can embiggen their body as a first within the MCU.......THATS INTERESTING. and what do ya know! that's Kamala in the comics. Feige said no because of Reed.
Tonic24k
Tonic24k - 11/16/2023, 12:41 PM
@McMurdo - I don't think we know for a fact Feige said that. The only thing I remember the writers saying is they made adjustments to her powers to fit the overall story. And in my opinion, especially after seeing The Marvels, it works great.

But also the Green Lantern bit is getting old. Her MCU powers are closer to her comic book powers than they are to GL. She's still extending her body, not creating projections of other physical objects like hammers and aircrafts.

And lastly, it is put to rest. The movies are not the comics and were NEVER intended to be. Just like in the comics we have Earth 616 and 1610 and countless others. The MCU is another version with different occurrences and happenings. That's just the reality of the situation. And the expectation otherwise will just make you irrationally grumpy.

@Tonic24k - it's 110% about Reed

The movie is bad, but she was really good and very charming in it. She's got a good future ahead of her as an actor.

However, they really miss an opportunity to add some emotional gravitas to the movie by having Ms. Marvel become more and more disillusioned with her "hero worship" of Captain Marvel when they had to leave some skrulls behind when evacuating that planet. Maybe get a chance for Iman Vellani to show off her acting range.

She is pretty good.

But they need to stop this overuse of her goofy fan girling bit. They have already worn that out.

JustAWaffle - 11/14/2023, 8:23 AM
@DocSpock - If they kept it they’d have to “stretch” it out with variety. I know that pun doesn’t land with this iteration.

I haven't watched it and won't, no interest in a secondary character with 2 tertiary. I did watch Ms marvel in Disney + and liked it, but she was a nobody in the comics, who and why did they choose her for a show and then a movie. Makes no sense, and since they had no story, no conexión to avengers and a fake, made up weak villain, nobody showed up to watch. Don't know if kid avengers will work, I have zero interest in that, beast and xmen, he'll yea, I would pay for that.

@LeDiableBlanc - didn't watch it along with majority, because it was a dogshit story, that didn't need to be told about characters that no one care about.

If the recruitment of Kate was shot in additional photography aka afterwards and that went to become the movie's definitive ending, I wonder what did they wrap up on the movie before they went back to film that scene?

In any case I was amused and smiling as she did her best Fury imitation, a very good way to close the movie.

As the MCU's first mutant I think it's a given that it should get a 2nd Season. I'd like to see more of her Noor powers be explored since I'm sure it's why she doesn't override with power when she puts on the Quantum Bands unlike to what happened to Dar-Benn.

I need a project with both Iman Vellani and Inaki Godoy. The two would probably require a new medium format that's heat resistant to that amount of bright cheeriness, though.
