After the failures of both "Jonah Hex" and "The Losers," those two movies will be the last lesser-known non-superhero characters in the DC library for a long time.

The reason why "Red" is at Summit and not at Warner is they consider it to be too small of a movie. They passed at the chance of making the movie more than once.

They consider it too small after the success of "The Dark Knight"($1 Billion). They are more interested in bigger DC characters and anything that doesn't measure up to "The Dark Knight" is low priority.



This is why Marvel is better at making movies than DC(in my opinion). DC only cares about doing movies that will guarantee them money, whereas Marvel does the characters that they are interested in seeing on the big screen.

I'm more of a DC comics fan than Marvel, but I have to admit that currently Marvel are a head of DC.

i don't think dc should be even bothering with shit like jonah hex,the losers & red.

i want to see the likes of the flash,wonder woman,lobo & the justice league.

but dc entainment thinks that batman,superman & the green lantern are the whole of the dc universe.

i think they're scared to try something new & fresh.

at least we've got the seventh(yawn!)batman film to look forward to & the sixth superman film man of steel,the reboot is needed.

can't wait to see thor,captain america & the avengers.

the failer of Jonah Hex and the Losers is cause of the producer of Akiva Goldsman. most likely WB will fire him or ban him from any comic book movie at WB.

i know marvel is making more movies and everything but really when you look at it, sony and fox are pumping out shit movies so they don't lose the rights
i love marvel movies and i love dc movies
but you can't say DC is making movies that will only make them cash because thats what every studio does regardless

what i meant is that DC only wants to make movies that will guarantee them money, so they wont bother with lesser know characters.

that dont make sense cause Green Lantern and The Flash is consider lesser known to the general public. we comic book fans know these characters but when it comes to the non comic book fans they dont know nothing about Green Lantern and The Flash history.

i get what you are saying, but financially,Green Lantern and The Flash have more chance of making a lot of money,not as close as The Dark Knight's gross, but more like Iron Man 1 and 2 than Vertigo comics or properties like Red, Lobo, or Sgt Rock etc.

In the article they say that they passed on Red because they want to focus only on the properties that have a big chance of making money.

well i cant blame cause the fans want to see Green Lantern, The Flash, etc. we been waiting to damn long if WB focus on Red, etc its just stopping the ones we actually want to see.

but they forget that A History of Violence, V for Vendetta, Constantine are comic book movies that was released at Warner Bros.

A History of Violence won a few awards i.e. Oscar

Blame Harry Potter, we never saw that many DC comics movies because Warner wanted to focus on the Harry Potter movies,thank God that Harry Potter finishes next year.

You can't blame warner, this is a studio, full of people taht is not doing the movies because they want to make the world a better place, they're making money. People like the mainstream DC charcters, that's what they should do in the movies. period.
Of course there's a lot of stories outside the mainstream that could be done, but right now, i preffer they focus on the cuality of their proyects, like they been doing with Batman.
Jhonah Hex was terrible; The losers was funny, but it wasnt a great movie. i'm agrre with the Akiva Goldsman issue. The producers rape the movies until there is nothing else to rape.
If the filmakers doesn't have any mony or does not have the courage to stand up against this producers, the movies could fail badly, because the producers not always have any taste or knowldege of what is to make a good movie.

I understand the point of DC. They're trying to stablish their biggest characters first. Building an audience, moving with care. I know they have had the WB support for a long time, but they have no rush and I like that. They rebooted Batman, tried with Superman -failed- Keep moving. Try again.

Most recognizable characters first. I can live with that.

Remember that DC/WB are companies. They need money to keep making movies. That's how it works.

@ charbelelnasr - Are you smoking ganga? It's a business about making money. MARVEL also wants to be in the same business, if this was the case then MARVEL would have continued with another HULK flick. Also if it wasn't for MARVEL not having their rights to Spidey, XMEN, FF; IM and the Avengers would have not been a priority. They were forced to follow their path their own now.

I agree and disagree with your statement. Marvel doesn't make better movies, but they do take more chances with their properties than DC. I guess if you were to compare the two, marvel comes out ahead on live-action and dc ahead in the anime. don't know what is the problem with warner/dc. make mini-web-episodes and see what fans & audiences reations are. not every movie they make is gonna make a billion dollars. look at marvel, they have movies that do well, but at the same time their maketing: toys, clothes, etc. adds up.

To me it would be best for both DC and Marvel to use TV more. The lesser known charecters would work better I think for TV. If they get popular enough then take them from the small to the big screen.
