EDITORIAL: Why DC Fanboys Need to Stop With the Defensive Editorials

I'm pretty tired of the defensive DC fanboy articles that dominate this site. There are other things to write about. Can we get a fresh topic any time soon?

Editorial Opinion

This is the third article I have written, and at no point during the writing process of the first two did I ever think to myself "What can I do get on the main page of this website?" I didn't choose a trendy topic just to get attention. Instead, I choose to write with a little bit of integrity by choosing a topic that hasn't been overdone on here.

The same cannot be said, however, for the majority of the articles pertaining to the recent CBM releases from DC/WB. The users who have been writing these articles must be motivated by one of two (or both) reasons.

1. They are simply choosing a topic that will manufacture attention and start a flame war.

2. They are so insecure about the DC CBMs that they cannot restrain themselves from writing a lengthy article defending them.

This needs to stop. This site is becoming monotonous and bogged down with stupid flame wars. Where is it written that both Marvel Studios and DC/WB can't succeed at the same time? In fact, I argue that the better one studio does, the more it helps the whole CBM industry. I am predominately a Marvel fan, but I might be more excited about Batman vs. Superman. There I said it. And those DC fanboys that bash every article describing a new Marvel project in the works need to stop and realize that if Marvel succeeds with putting their lesser known properties on the big screen then DC/WB will do the same.

Instead of the same cookie cutter editorials popping up every day, there are alternatives that would make this site more interesting. For example: "Why Martian Manhunter Deserves a Film." or "Why Wonder Woman Needs a Movie". Please can we stop with these articles about why a DC film is the "Best CBM ever" and move on to more dynamic topics?

It's not DC fanboys, its JoshWilding.

Also if we stop defending TDKR, shouldn't Marvelites stop defending IM3?

If we stop defending MOS, Marvelites should stop defending TASM.

Works both ways.

@LEVITIKUZ I think that people should stop defending all of those movies.
Why can't everyone just have an opinion and accept that other people might think differently, first there were aggressive articles that basically all said: "You will like what I like and agree with me on everything or I will decleare you as imature loser," Now(since those articles didn't work) instead we get In defense of-articles, that try to make everyone think same way. Everyone entitled to their opinion.

Lev I think you know I´m a DC fan, but the thing about what you said is The Dark Knight Rises and MOS are not as good as Iron Man 3 or TASM. They just aren´t. I will be DC for life, but they need to get their shit together. Batman and Supes are getting way over done. The guys writing most of these articles defending DC aren´t even true DC fans. They´re Batman fanboys most of them, thinking they´re DC fans. Any true DC fan would be pissed of at WBDC at the moment for how they´ve completely ruined there own momentum. When Batman Begins came out and smashed it, DC shouldn´t have let Marvel use Batman Begins momentum, to crush them. They had Batman and got arrogantt. Since Marvel has made characters nobody even knew about into rock stars, when DC character are so much more interesting. It sickens me as a comicbook fan to see this. I love marvel as well but for me apart from X-Men, Hulk and Spiderman, they have no where near as cool characters and all of DC´s stable are so much more iconic. After all the promises after all the wait, after all the money I´ve spent supporting DC they give me yet another Batman film. To the writer of this article thankyou, you are a true comic fan.

I can take them after the movie comes out. But seriously, some makes a comment like "IM3 was better than MOS" and all of a sudden 2 articles pop up "Why IM3 sucked" Or "Why MOS was the best comic book movie yet" Its bogus. I'll except IM3 had some badness to it. Mandarin was horribly retarted but on the other hand, it was really entertaining. If you have to make a article to defend a film, you have already lost. There is a reason there are no articles defending the avengers, The dark knight, Batman begins, Iron Man. Thats because those films were great.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me how anyone can be a fan of DC, but not Marvel, or vice-versa?

It's so silly. All the name-calling and what not. The butthurt. Josh is clearly advertising. That's his style, and if you don't like it, then don't read it. I've got better things to do than try and argue about things that happened last year in a movie theater, things...

I guess it is like watching a soccer game where fans have to hate the ans of the other team for simply being fans of the other team. Then it all erupts in violence and fighting instead of actually enjoying what they are actually there for.

I'm a marvel fan more than dc but in terms of a movie I always try to give credit where I think it's due. Man of steel wasn't great, IM3 was marvels worst movie since like Electra lol but TDKR wasn't necessarily bad, just not as good as the first two, and besides I think we all know going to see the third batman it wasn't gonna be as good as the second. I don't think TASM was very good but I have a poster feeling for the second, especially with his new suit.. Idk just my opinions

Darn DC fanboys and the articles defending Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel.Good thing the marvel fanboys don't make editorials defending Amazing Spider-man or Iron-man 3.

Chill out everyone is entitle too their own opinion it's your choice whether to read it or ignore it.

Eh, I'm not suggesting you HAVE to like both - and especially if you're on a budget, how can anyone afford to follow both? What I'm saying is: why does one HAVE TO be a Marvel fan, and not a DC fan, or vice versa?

Honestly, I don't own a SINGLE DC comic book. Wait, that's a lie. I own the zero issue of the Martian Manhunter. Half of my trade paperbacks are DC, but I never followed DC when I was collecting. I understand the choice.

Perhaps "fan" is the wrong word. As Wonder Woman enjoys saying in JLU: "I don't see how any of those are mutually exclusive."

Let's talk movies - pretty easy medium to get into. I don't see how or why anyone would actually choose to ONLY see Marvel movies, or ONLY DC movies.

I'm pro-Fox, pro-Sony and pro-MCU. That being said, I like the X-films and Spider-verse as a WHOLE better than the MCU. Although the highest points of MCU are better than the highest points of the X-Verse, but the X-films are more consistent and better films overall.
