As I think about it this could work...

So there I was in the bathroom trying to dodge todays work. I was pondering about the secrets of life, when suddenly I heard a whisper. As I looked around and wondered whatever could it be. That when I heard the voice call my name. The unicorn was in direct violation of my privacy and I explained that this is a safe haven and you shall not pass. The unicorn was cool about and said he sometimes does not understand the interactions and rules of mortal men. He told me he will be brief but I must take his message to the people and enlighten them on what should be happening in the DC universe and who could tie it all together. He told me that Lobo would be the perfect catalyst to explore the DC universe. Lobo has interstellar space travel down pat. Lobo has strength and intelligence that rivals Superman. And Lobo can give a humor as well as dark approach to the DC universe. He told me to tell you guys that this could work and eliminate what appears to be a lot of work introducing the JL. Lets jump to Why this would work.

Lobo is an intergalactic bounty hunter. Lobo has a bike (Spacehog ) that he uses to navigate the universe. By Lobo having this as a means for transportation he could find himself discover a plethora of Easter eggs. We could see Lobo hired by the Braniac to hunt for a rare gem (kryptonite ) and during his travel he could encounter green lanterns, Tharganians, White martians and so forth. We could explain who will be Green Lantern by saying the Earth sector is protected by John Stewart. Or he could see the White Martians killing the planet. Basically everything that DC would want to do with their Superman movie. As he hunts for the Kryptonite we could see what Zod was doing before the invasion. We can see that there is a larger world other than Earth. He could explore for most of the movie introducing to us to the various races and species in the Universe. Now as far as Braniac being the villain. It could work or for whatever direction DC wishes to expand the Universe to. could be who hires Lobo. He really could be hired by anyone, he is a bounty hunter after all.

Next is why Lobo seperates himself from other Anti-heroes. Lobo is functionally immortal meaning he could be the Wolverine to DC if used properly. Again he has the strength of Superman the intellect of Batman. And just an overall Badass. Meaning with his functional immortality they could use his story to explain wars and why races that Earth will be facing are the way they are. Lobo could explain where Kryptonite came from. Lobo could explain how Hal Jordan and John Stewart are both GLs for Earth. Think about how easy it would be to drop hints on what we would see with JL. It would be alot easier to explain races and people in passing that to do like the Avengers and have to fight the aliens first to expand their universe. DC has a character who is basically involved with every race, creature and alien in the DC universe. He aside from Brainiac and a Lantern are basically the only people with intergalactic space stories where their stories are based on them crossing and inter mingling with more than Earth. DC has a catalyst right under their nose if they just take the chance to think outside of what Marvel is doing and take back the CBM genre. They could literally do so much with a Lobo movie without it feeling forced as we saw in GL. If they ever want a chance to really run. Use what you've got. I once saw a Cadillac race a Honda and win. Well thats my time. Tell me what you think of the Lobo genesis and drop a comment.

It's a good idea to help establish the greater DCCU, but to me personally, there are two fundamental issues. How would you greater establish the DC superheroes like John Stewart to be set up for later movies, and what would be the plots of the movies? I know you said ideas like Brainiac sending Lobo to collect kryptonite, but who would be the antagonist?

I still like these ideas though, anything that involves Lobo in DC movies is fine by me :D

Simple.
Start the movie out with Lobo retrieving an item or killing someone of high priority. this is the beginning of the film.
The planet where he got this stuff from, is one ruled by thanagarians.
Thanagar Sends a small squad of their police force, and now this is where you introduce Hawkman as the squad leader.

Later a mechanical figure contacts lobo to locate a rare green crystal.
Brainiac isn't the antagonist here, he's just like a background mastermind.

Lobo must locate the kryptonite and retrieve it from a hostile planet (Possible the gordanian homeworld? which sets up for a potential Thanagarians vs gordanians battle possible in earth), while also being chased down by Thanagarians.

Lobo manages to kill most of the thanagarians chasing him, except for hawkman.
Brainiac gives Lobo the location for the drop point, and it ends up being in the same solar system as earth, right behind pluto. Lobo drops the kryptonite off for brainiac and rushes to lose hawkman who's right in his tail.

They end up in a battle in space, until they crash land on earth.
*Shows visuals of both of them crash landing*
and CUT!!! ends in a cliff hanger that sets up for JL.

Now you Have Lobo, Hawkman, Brainiac (who's more of a minor role)
and you can probably introduce some other characters in there, perhaps green lantern (John Stewart) once Lobo and hawkman reach sector 2814.

Also, i think brainiac should be strictly Mechanical. like in the DCAU shows.

As for who can play Lobo or Hawkmanm i think Jason Momoa could fit the role for both. Although most would agree on Momoa for Hawkman.

Ok, the first "unicorn" post was at least kinda funny. Now you're just being stupid.

It amazes me how dumb some of the ideas that fanboys come up with. This is dumb on many different levels, but the main reason it's dumb is really simple: probably at least 85-90% of general audiences would have no earthly idea who Lobo is. They are not gonna come out to watch a movie that is mainly about Lobo. If you want to use him as a minor, cameo character in a Superman or JL movie that's fine, but he cannot carry a film on his own. Other than knowing that Lobo exists as a DC character, I don't even know much about him. So I promise that the vast majority of general audiences would respond with "who?"

@Lhornbk
the same could be said about GOTG. GA is gonna say "WHO?!"
yet we have marvelites here predicting GOTG to do $500M+ at the BO.

It really depends on the story.
If you look my post above, it adds Hawkman, and possibly even green lantern.

If they use Dwayne Johnson for green lantern, even if its just 20-30 minute role for some scenes in sector 2814, that would be a huge boost in GA who'd watch the film, just because DJ is in it.

for the above story scenario i'd cast
Lobo: Jason Momoa (or do motion capture / CGI and make the character big like the comics)
Hawkman: Karl urban, Liam Mcintyre, Or Jason Momoa (if he doesn't get lobo)
GL / John Stewart: Dwayne Johnson

Some of your ideas are really interesting.

And I want to believe that WB has some great master plan, but in reality, I'm going to expect almost nothing.

Lobo is the Poochie of comics.

@Lhornbk the reason for Lobo and an unknown character is for budget purposes. When you take a character people are unfamiliar with it gives one the latitude to do whatever they want story wise. With Lobo there would be no boundaries, no allegiances. Just the Main man doing what he does.

@GoldSlayer1 its great to see that people can use their imagination and understand a theory and an idea. DC has so much potential if they just think outside of the box. They should take a chance

I would love a Lobo movie, If WB could pull it off then they've truly mastered the CBM
