So, my friend and I have been debating one very simple question: Can Wolverine's Adamantium claws actually stab through/penetrate a Kryptonian's skin while the Kryptonian is under a yellow sun with NO form of Kryptonite near by and no magical elements involved?

Would Wolverine's claws stab clean through Superman, or would it end slightly more like this...

Post your opinions/answers in the comments section please and help us solve this debate. Thanks guys

Very good question. I'm sure that they could damage him, but barely. Not enough for serious damage. Make this a series!!!

its hard to say,his claws can cut through anything well apart from adamantium & captain america's shield,i'm gonna say yes as long as he can put enough force behind it to do so.

I think they will give Supes a good cut or three but no actually stab through him.

no, he can't stab him with them

Who hasn't had this debate with a buddy! Its a good one. I'm a classic DC nut and my buddy is a die hard Wolverine fan. We agreed there is nothing in either universe or actual "science" to suggest adamantium would do little more than a few cuts. Sorta like Doomsday's bone-fists. It'd break skin but probably not much else.

The answer is yes and no... could Adamantium claws cut/pierce superman, yes... can wolverine put enough force behind it to do so, probably not...

@TheMarvelite "Superman is overrated. Of course Wolverine's claws can stab through Superman's skin." - Have you ever read a Superman Comic???

@jjk2814 - I have had this conversation, and similar others before and the answer is inevitably always the same. Its up to the writers. If they want to show how dangerous wolvie is, supes would get cut, if they want to show off Superman's invulnerability, then he wont.

That is the only undisputable answer there could ever be to a question like this.

I mean if you type these character's powers and feats in real world physics, no way could Wolverine do anything to Superman. But by those same rules, he shouldn't be able to scratch hulk or thor, but he can...

...or how can Hulk take everything Mjolnir has to give and still get pierced by wolvies claws...?

The adamantium is strong enough, not the Wolverine. I think if Supes charged Wolvie, and Wolvie was braced against one helluva strong wall, it could be done. In a fight, out in the open? No way.

Very true, MoondoggyX, very true.

I think it would have a similar result to when he tried to stab Silver Surfer in Marvel Zombies. It would probably push the metal back into his skin and out the other end.

If Doomsday's bone claws can cut Superman, then yes, Wolverine's claws could too.

Adamantium can cut through anything, Superman's skin cannot protect against everything. Its that simple.

It wouldnt matter anyway. Supes could move faster than Wolvie can perceive. Not only that, but he could just float in the air continuously burn Wolvie with heat vision. This fight would last all of 4 seconds.

CorndogBurglar - 8/8/2012, 7:19 PM
@ moondoggy

Very true. Hulk's invulnerability is actually due to a super healing factor that heals him almost as instantly as he's hurt. Yet Wolverine's claws always seem to leave lasting cuts. Its all up to the writers in the end.

But with Supes, we've seen Doomsday's BONE claws cut him. Of they can do it, then surely adamantium can.

I love this debate. Isn't Superman's skin and strength equivalent to the Hulk's? And Wolverine can stab (or at least cut) Hulk. I think, yes, Wolvie can pierce Superman's skin.

If doomsday can make him bleed.....besides hes the man of STEEL. Adamantium can slice right through steel.
MoonDoggyX
MoonDoggyX - 8/8/2012, 9:31 PM
@CDB - thanks. And doomsday strength >>>>> wolverine strength. Lol

@ghost - supes has been around for 70 years, so in all that time he's survived almost everything. At his most ridiculous, he's survived direct hits from planetary death-rays, doomsday missiles and even in the middle of a freaking star(billions of tons of pressure and millions of degrees) and black holes virtually unscaved. Stuff like that makes it hard to believe wolvie would have any effect.
walterbryant0708
walterbryant0708 - 8/8/2012, 10:00 PM
Sorry folks. Doomsday is Kryptonian. His strength and invulnerability are at least equal to Superman's. Comparing his bones and his strength to Wolverine, who's about as strong as Spiderman, makes no sense. AND, the Hulk is highly durable, but not invulnerable. Wolverine can't cut Superman. Hulk with Wolverine's claws could, though.
JayJayCAW
JayJayCAW - 8/8/2012, 10:02 PM
good question, adamantium is alien in origin so it should be possible that the metal could cut Superman. However Supes has gone up against other metals from alien worlds that have been said to be similar to adamantium and they didnt do shit to Supes.

Since Superman has never actually gone up against anything with adamantium before its a complete unknown, but yeah I gotta agree with most and say Wolverine himself does not have the muscle/force to actually do so.

Honestly...I don't think so. Adimantium is the strongest substance on earth. But Superman is not from earth. He is practically a god on earth as his weakness is proven to only be kryptonite.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/9/2012, 3:22 AM
I never compared Doomsday's strength Wolvie. The question is whether or not Wolvies claws can cut Superman. Yes they can. That doesnt mean Wolvie is strong enough to make them, though.

But is bones are capable of doing it, then so are adamantium.

Well the picture is definitly not possible... even if Superman's skin is to thick for the adamantium to penitrate, Wolverine stabbing motion does not have enough force to bend the claws... what would most likely happen is the claws would be forced back up into Wolverine's forearms

Someone actually reasoned that Superman is the "Man of Steel" & adamantium can cut through steel.... Wow!!! what about the many other things that can damage steel & yet not hurt Superman.
i remember Captain Marvel hurling Superman into the sun in Justice & he survived that.

Wolverine's claws were able to slightly cut Thor, and IMO, Thor has greater durability than Supes. It's possible

If it wasn't a clash of different superhero universes it would still be a case of an unstoppable object meets an unmoveable force.

Impossible Argument Invalid.

No, I don't think Wolverine's claws can hurt Superman. His claws might be able to but Wolverine isn't nearly strong enough to pierce Superman's skin. Also Wolverine couldn't even touch Superman because he is way too fast and one hit from Superman would incapacitate Wolverine.
MoonDoggyX
MoonDoggyX - 8/9/2012, 11:18 AM
@Sagemode - "Wolverine's claws were able to slightly cut Thor, and IMO, Thor has greater durability than Supes. It's possible." - Perfect example of writer's BS!

"Godlike Invulnerability: Being a god whose heritage is half-Asgardian & half-Elder God affords Thor absolute invulnerability and immunity to such human ailments as diseases, toxins, poisons, corrosives, fire, electrocution, asphyxiation, lead, and radiation poisoning.[60][61][62][63] Thor can drink mead all day long and not get drunk. He has withstood direct blows from beings with vast superhuman strength such as the Hulk, Hercules, Gladiator, Silver Surfer, Thanos, and the Red hulk. Thor can survive in the heart of the Sun with no discomfort,[64] has flown through the heart of stars,[65] and survived point blank range energy explosions capable of destroying entire planets.[66] He has survived a supernova blast of an exploding star unharmed,[24] the gravity of a Neutron Star,[66] and withstood the weight of a score of entire planets.[67] Thor was able to survive direct multiple blasts from the Asgardian Destroyer (the weapon created by Odin and the gods from multiple pantheons to battle the Celestials).[68] Thor also once took a glancing hit by a Doomsday Bomb that was capable of destroying an entire planet, and soon after that explosion he fell from space (leaving a crater miles wide) to a planet called Pangoria.[66] He has withstood a blast from Odin (who is far more powerful than Thor),[69] attacks from Celestials,[25] and even withstood attacks from the leader of the Celestials.[70] With his powers reduced in half, Thor was able to withstand a blow from the Executioners axe (a weapon that wields the energy of an exploding star).[71] Thor is extremely difficult to kill as his life force is considerably augmented by his godlike heritage, powers, Mjolnir, and the Odin Force - even if it is only relegated within Mjolnir as a smaller portion at the moment.[72]" - marvel.wikia.com/Thor_Odinson_(Earth-616)

The fact that wolverine was able to even scratch something that could survive all of that goes against every law of physics... The only thin in the ENTIRE UNIVERSE more powerful and dangerous than the center of a star is BLACK HOLE. So really no one should be able to hurt thor unless they were at least that powerful... Wolverine's claws more damaging than the center of a star, I think not...

WRITER BS!!!

I gotta say yes just because Superman's skin while being shown to be harder than carbon steel are still vunerable. And Wolverine has Adamantium claws capable of slicing through steel easiy. That said he would probably be able stab Superman but the force nessacary to do any real damage to Supes would also injure Wolverine himself
