Following the leak of "Amazing Spider-Man" #700 late last week, series writer Dan Slott said he would be going radio silent about the issue. While Slott has remained quiet about the comic, the creator has remained visible and vocal on social media including Twitter and Facebook, stating that he has been receiving death threats over the events of his current, and concluding, "Amazing Spider-Man" arc. In response to these tweets, the writer has announced a zero-tolerance policy toward receiving threats, declaring he is now reporting each one to the proper authorities.

"Reality check: There is NO such thing as a 'funny death threat,'" Slott said on Sunday via Facebook. "Especially if you TAG someone in it. If you think, because of something happening to a FICTIONAL character, that you need to type out a death threat and SEND it to someone: You. Need. Help. If you follow my twitter, you know I've taken a devilish bit of delight in re-posting these (mainly because they usually make the OP look like a raving loon-- and, for a time, that WAS funny to me.) Well... That's over. From now on, they ALL get reported. The End."

Slott's zero-tolerance policy was also broadcast over his Twitter, appearing in an individual Tweet and in his profile at the top of his feed.

When contacted by CBR, Slott declined to comment on the situation.

@Anthrax

You have seriousl mental issue's, go get some help.

1. You didn't create the character.

2. You are much to attached to a fictional character.

3. Again get some help. Sending death threats over some as stupid as fiction is beyond stupid.

Whoever is threatening slott should be ashamed if themselves. I've made no secret about the fact I don't like his run, but this is just a step too far. People need to realise its only fiction, plus I've heard he's a really nice guy and i will never condone death threats

Death threats? Really? I may not like what he's done to Spidey, with the figurative and, perhaps literal, ass-raping, but he doesn't deserve death threats.

Death threat's could have been looked past in the early 90's, but now a days it is nothing to joke about because when school shootings becoming almost a monthly ordeal, shows you how sick the world is getting.

If you plan on threatening someone esp over a comic-book character then seek help.

While I do agree death threats aren't cool, he knew full well it was going to happen and had been making jokes about it before hand so it's not like it was out of the blue.

Not saying it's right, just that he knew what his story was going to cause. If anything, leading up to it he sounded excited

And the people who are saying some care too much about a fictional character, why are you even here if you don't ?

I think people who are threatening a man over a character that stands for responsibility and doing good need to reconsider they're sanity.

I don't care how bad a story Slott wrote, he nor anybody else does not derserve these horrific death threats. It is incredibly stupid how these idiots who read and worship Spider-Man, a character who is always trying to do what is right, are sending heinous messages to a man that say things like stabbing him in the eyes with a pencil.

That was pretty good, kudos. Too bad you had break it down in such a simple manner

"Group A, normal fans go stand over there!"
"Group B, all you crazies go stand over there!"

"What's that extreme passionate fans who wouldn't hurt a fly? You want to be seen, sorry you don't help my arguement"

This can't be the first time this has happened.
I liked his run on She-Hulk and a few other things, but I've never really thought of him as a signiicant writer at all.
But it seems like a lot of people really, passionately hate him, so there must be something about him.

No one should get this frustrated over a comic book at all. But if the shit I read is actually going to happen in 700 and carry on to Superior, then we have another One More Day on our hands. And this would be a downright horrible way to end the legendary Amazing Spider-Man run.

Why do people keep claiming that the world is "getting" sick, as if there was a time when tragedies didn't happen every day? As of October 29, there have been 436 Homicides in Chicago, alone. As of December 18, 446 school age children were shot in Chicago. Of that number, 62 were murdered, but no one cares about the "darkies", do they? Get rid of the blasted automatic weapons already and stop these nut-jobs from sending death threats, without repercussions.

DON'T BUY ANY SPIDER-MAN COMICS!

I guess some people don't realize that this is just a progression in the overall arc of the story. I mean sure it kinda sucks, but I am interested in where its going. This could be the setup for one of Peters most accomplishing feats. I mean think of it as in he's been through hell and always remained true. What better way to concrete that by taking his life, have someone else do as they will with his body for a time, all while he fights like hell to regain it and still eventually come out on top. Idk just my take. I'm not gonna give a death threat over it, especially when I don't know the overall story. It could become something great.

I thought the dudes on this site who whined about changes in the cbm's from the comics were pathetic but someone sending this dude death threats over a story takes the cake.

Death threat are an utterly ridiculous response to ASM 700, but i can understand their outrage.

You get really attached to things as a child and when ti carries into adulthood (supposedly) you still have that passion for it, but it also becomes sacred because it has been a part of you for most of your life (like people who are fans of sports teams and get outraged when their team loses or someone insults them).

Peter Parker is dead, no amount of lame "brainwave amalgamation" plot can soften that. Especially the way Peter Parker died.
I've read Peter Parker since I was 6, which was during the 80s. I endured the Clone Saga, but I was okay with it because they gave Peter a seemingly happy ending (though I found Ben Reilly so boring).
The end of ASM 700 is as if Lex Luthor had murdered Clark Kent and got away with it, and preceded to wear Clark Kent and Superman's face while having pie with Ma Kent, making love to Lois Lane, and having bro moments with Batman.

It was a sh*tty end for Peter Parker, which is the character readers have loved for decades. That is why people are outraged and sometimes overreacting. I can only hope this is part of a bigger story and when Julia Carpenter is revived from her coma she will somehow be able to bring back the real Peter Parker.

In the meantime I'll get the first couple of issues of Superior Spider-man and then let go of the character. I don't mind saving 3-4 dollars a month if keeps me from remembering how Slott pretty much spit in the reader's face. At least Ultimate Peter Parker's death gave us closure (as forced as it was).
Okay, I'm done ranting, and I don;t plan to ever do so again.

Death threats? Seriously people get a life. I agree that I think what he does to the character is a travesty. Marvel is ran by a bunch of fanboys that could care less what there CUSTOMERS want to see. In my opinion Dan Slott seems to write for Dan Slott. Most of the time we're all on the same page...however this time we are not. He did see this backlash and now he's dealing with it.
