After the wrap up of the Gorr saga, this months issue takes a break from the action and literally provides a break for Thor as he returns to Midgard. It's here that we really see Thor take on his self imposed duties as the guardian of Earth. We see the God of Thunder returning to this realm to participate in small, humble events that demonstrate how human Thor can really be.
Thor also pays a visit to Jane Foster and is, unfortunately, greeted with some rather unpleasant news. Even though Thor and Jane are no longer a couple, it's clear that they are still very close and share a heartwarming moment together. It is in this issue that we are also introduced to the God of Heartbreaker's new love interest, newly graduated S.H.E.I.L.D Agent Rosalind Solomon. Moving away from the Thor/Jane at this point in the series makes sense, and Agent Solomon has a quirkiness to her that will hopefully keep her character fresh.
The art is very bold and striking, and it's a shame that Nic Klien won't be staying to continue working on the series.
With next weeks issue starting a new arc by bringing in Malekith, this standalone tale serves as a great point for those who have missed this series so far to jump in before things start to heat up again.
