Story
CIvil wars story is something which could have been a lot worse, but is handled brilliantly it truly is a payoff for all those who have been following the MCU over the last 8 years, it manages to capture the essence of every single character in the MCU. With enough emotional heart beat and motivation for each character. Every one gets enough time to explain or justify who they are.
This is a genuine battle of Idealogy.
Action
this is incredible, there are so many and so varied, this actually tops man of steel in action and i didnt think that was possible, the airport scene in my opinion has now replaced the last 40 mins of man of steel as my favourite action scene in a comic book movie. I cant go into too much without spoilers but having read comics for the last 20 years i would say that i was very satisfied and entertained i mean the action in this movie will make you want to come back and watch it again and again.
New characters
Black panther and spiderman - these two characters where introduced very well, there is a moment the 1st time when tony stark meets spiderman that is extremely charming and just hearing spiderman talk about why he does what he does and the look on tony starks face,this is a terrific credit to robert downey Jr and tom holland.
Tone
the tone in this movie is absolutely perfect, it is devoid of all the nonsensical quips and unneccessary jokes at inappropriate moments that plagued other marvel movies. One of my biggest criticisms of the marvel movies was that the jokes in marvel movies were done to take away from the fact that it wasnt a very good movie but the jokes are used to bring the bar down for the movies and make you judge their movie based on what it is trying to be not what it really is. But this movie plays it straight and I absolutely love it.
cons
shaky cams
- not so much a big deal but the shakey cams in the early action sequences was a bit distracting, but later on its good.
editing/time travel-
There were a couple of times my wife and i were scratching our heads when they were talking about something happening in other countries and all of a sudden they were there, when you see it you will see what i mean.
villain-
another throwaway marvel villain, having said that , he wasnt as bad as other villains and gets a couple of moments to explain his motivation, but he does not take away from the film.
verdict
if you aint got a ticket- go out and get it now!!!
this is a stunning addition to the mcu and joins Iron Man 1, the winter soldier and first avengers as the MCU finest movies. It is simply stunning and anyone who is a fan of the genre owes it to themselves to see this movie.
I have no doubt that the people who love the marvel levity will have issues with such a serious movie but for me this is a welcome change to the MCU and one i hope they continue into infinity war.
The love and heart thats gone into the making of the movie is evident and the russos, Feige, anyone involved in the making of this movie should take a bow.
As a fan who genuinely reads comics and has done so for the last 20 years this is an absolute treat and with this deadpool, Batman v superman and the soon to be released xmen apocalypse it is a great time to be a fan.
Got me asking isnt it time we stop the mini civil war between mcu and dcu fans? why dont we just enjoy this unprecendented period?
