Having penned Black Panther for the last 2 years, Te-Nehisi Coates  will take on one of Marvel's most iconic characters. Working with the talented Leinil Yu (Superman: Birthright), the duo intends to present a fresh take on Cap that honors the past while being new reader friendly.

The brief trailer is a showcase for Alex Ross's gorgeous cover work and Leinil Yu's interior art. Bucky's role in the new story arc is hinted at and a mysterious new foe is teased.

You can be both anti-fascist and still not support a communist quasi terrorist organization.

You'd think the guy who said 9/11 responders were less than human would be the last choice for a book called Captain "AMERICA".

Coates is the wrong choice for the character.

lol you guys

What if the story is good, do we disregard it because of the artist behind it? You know it IS indeed possible to like the product of someone/something (in the realm of art) that you generally disagree with, right?

@Luther - The story may be good, but with someone who has anti-American sentiments writing a character who is the embodiment of American values, or supposed to be, its hard to have faith that his writing wont be slanted with his points of view.

Alex Ross' work is always masterful, but I especially love when he works on Cap.

Te-Nehisi used to write great books, and by books I mean novels, but since then it's obvious he's become so comfortable with expressing his opinions (because of his success) that he doesn't hold back anymore and writes and says things that are pretty hardcore. I don't have a problem with people believing things I disagree with, as long as it doesn't bleed in EVERYTHING they do, sing, film or write. I want to enjoy a story, not read a life lesson.

Why does Marvel keep handing their flagship American character to writers who hate large portions of American citizebry? I really think the editors have forgotten what the character stands for and just aim to align him with their own personal politics. I liked most of Coates work on Black Panther, but this one is just distasteful. Hopefully he uses it as a chance to work through some of his hang ups and social paranoia.

You know - it's tough. I keep feeling like Marvel (comics, I mean) is just floundering right now and they are just grasping at straws and going waaaay over the top and trying to go super-epic every year, doing stupid things with all of our favorite characters, replacing them, blatant marketing ploys, restarting a series every other year, etc ... but then I think about it, and... I guess they've always done that. I remember, when I was really into them when I was younger (around the 80's & 90's), they did all kinds of crazy things then - some of which i liked, and/or actually worked. The whole Black-suit Spiderman (which of course led to Venom), The whole "heres a bigger, badder, tougher, wilder version of your favorite hero" thing (US Agent, War Machine, Venom, Beta Ray Bill, even arguably Sabretooth), Even Secret Wars, Inferno, Acts of Vengeance - all those crossovers threw a huge wrench into things... I guess maybe it's safe to say that I'm no longer the target audience (clearly), but it just feels so bad...
