In a recent CBM poll 47 of 106 people agreed that Billy Zane would be perfect for the role of Lex Luthor in the up and coming Superman Reboot (Superman : Man of Steel). How good is this statistic? The second closest was Ralph Fiennes with 17 votes and the third was Jason Isaacs with 11 votes. There were 7 more actors on the list with an average of 4.43 votes. Note: statistics were recorded as of Sunday the 17th at 10:30pm (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MyDCUniverse/polls/?poll=556&view=results). To express my concern for this new Superman reboot; I’m starting a petition to cast Billy Zane and the new Lex Luthor. As you probably know, we haven’t really got Superman correct on the big screen. In fact, in most cases it has been terrible. With the exception of the first and second Superman movies in 1978 and 1980 starring Christopher Reeve and Gene Hackman, all attempts of creating the most iconic superhero to ever exist on a world stage has failed. This is the main reason I believe Billy Zane is Vital to the success of this Reboot. If you have ever seen Zane act, whether it was “Titanic” or “Dead Calm” you know he has (for a lack of a better word) a connection to Lex not only in the way he looks but he can capture the true aspects, dynamics of this character with flying colors. In my eyes Billy Zane is the obvious choice for Luthor.
