Midnight Sons

This was quite the project. 4 series, all leading up to this (Plus a tie-in to AOS, by introducing Ghost Rider and the Darkhold. This epic series sports a huge cast, but it's not quite as intimidating when you realize most of them will only be in a few episodes. I took an amalgation of the classic Elder Gods to better unite all of our heroes and their individual series. and give them an ultimate threat to throw down against. I hope you enjoy the read!

New Cast

Set: Tony Todd --- Lilith: Christina Hendricks --- Chthon: Jackie Earl Haley

The Elder Gods are a big deal, so I've tried to pick big name actors to embody them. We already met two in previous series, so now the final three get a chance to be summoned. First is Set. We heard all about him in Brother Voodoo's series, and now we get to meet him. Along with Chthon, Set has always been one of the most overtly evil of this pantheon, so it was no big leap to cast horror icon Tony Todd as the God of Lies. Lilith, God of Monsters, was nearly summoned by Deacon Frost in Blade: Season One, now she appears physically for the first time. An actress who is both exceptionally beautiful and capable of delivering a powerful, menacing performance is needed, and Christina Hendricks would easily hold her own in this demonic ensemble. Lastly is Chthon. The most powerful, and prominent, of the Elder Gods in Marvel deserves a fan legend to play him, and Jackie Earl Haley is perfect to bring his uniquely creepy presence to the God of Evil's screen debut.

Dr. Karl Malus: Michael Emerson --- The Enforcer: Boris McGiver --- Psi-Hawk: Martin Sensmeier

In building up to the summoning of the Elder Gods, however, our heroes have to fight past a few more obstacles. First, Dr. Karl Malus has weasled his genetically modifying ways into the path of a huge number of Marvel heroes. He seems a clear fit here, as a hopeful source of help for young Fallon Grey. Things inevitably turn south, and Michael Emerson would be excellent at introducing a seemingly benevolent character with darker plans for our heroes. Morningstar's cult, meanwhile, recieves some needed muscle in the form of The Enforcer, Malus' genetically empowered hitman. Boris McGiver is an underrated character actor who plays the part of the detirmined, dogged villain quite capably. Lastly, Psi-Hawk is a new addition to Marvel lore, but I've been drawing from Ewing's work, including on Ultimates, for a lot of my supernatural material. Martin Sensmeir has a promising career, and this character holds a big future for him in the Netflix world.

Plot
-Brother Voodoo has assembled a team of mystic warriors including White Tiger, Ghost Rider, Elsa Bloodstone, and Jack Russel. He explains to Ava the full scope of Morningstar’s plan, to collect a series of totems required to summon the Elder Gods back to Earth. Together they hold four of five totems connected to the ancient demons, which Morningstar needs to summon them through the void and back to Earth: The Darkhold, The Serpent Crown, The Bloodstone, and the Tiger Amulet. Voodoo and Jack leave to hunt down Marc Spector, who holds the 5th totem but is off the grid. Elsa seeks out Blade, who she believes will be valuable in the fight.

We find Blade and his wife desperately searching for a solution to Fallon’s increasingly uncontrollable vampirism. They track down Dr. Karl Malus, who had helped Jack control his werewolf transformations. Once arriving in the doctor’s secret bunker, however, the family begins to grow suspicious of his true intentions. Above ground, Elsa is distracted from the search when The Enforcer is sent by Morningstar to retrieve the tokens. In the fight, she recognizes his augmented powers as being the work of Dr. Malus.

Marc Spector, meanwhile, is crisscrossing the country with Marlene Alraune, defending night travelers while tracking a mysterious psychic force phenomenon that has been appearing across the country at place of impending disaster. Marc has seemingly fully recovered from his battle with Khonshu, but inside the Elder God continues to whisper darkness into his brain, revealing that Marc himself is the 5th and final totem.

Blade and Skyla slowly catch on to what is happening with Malus, who is revealed to be working for Morningstar. The lab is put on lockdown and the patients and guards turn on the family while Malus attempts to dissect Fallon. Elsa and the others break into the lab in time to save them, but in the chaos Fallon has gone fully feral and viciously killed Malus.

Mark finally manages to catch his quarry, revealed to be the Psi-Hawk, a former soldier now made up of pure psychic energy. In their brief conversation, Psi-Hawk reveals the big picture of Morningstar’s plan, including the fact that he’ll have to assemble the totems at Wundagore Mountain to complete the summoning and bring all of the gods back to full power and free their leader, Chthon. The meeting is interrupted by Brother Voodoo and Jack, who Marc impulsively fights with, allowing Psi-Hawk to disappear again. They calm him down, and he agrees to return with them.

Back at the base, however, the Enforcer arrives, catching Ghost Rider and White Tiger off guard. He successfully steals the Darkhold, Crown, and Amulet. The other groups arrive too late to stop him. S all our heroes get to know each other, Ava, remembering her struggle with the Tiger Goddess, attempts to help Fallon fight back the darkness eating away at her soul. The older heroes come to argument on their next step, how to stop the villains without losing the last two totems. Brother Voodoo tries to force Elsa and Marc to stay behind with Fallon and the powerless Ava as his newly dubbed Midnight Sons head off to take the fight to Morningstar.

The team walks into a trap at the cult’s HQ, while Elsa and Marc break free to try and join the fight. Just as they arrive, Morningstar casts a spell that transports the whole base to Wundagore Mountain and captures the majority of the team. The four free heroes see their situation grow even worse when Khonshu, empowered by the Mountain, seizes control of Marc. Though he fails to kill Elsa and the teen, he grabs hold of the Bloodstone and races to the summit.

Inside the HQ, the captured heroes are freed by the late arrivals, who relay the bad news. Together, they race to the summit and defeat The Enforcer, but it is too late. Morningstar has completed the ceremony and all five gods are released onto the mortal plain once again. Their first act is to execute all of the cult members except Morningstar. Chthon is the last to materialize, entering the stage by quickly killing Ghost Rider, who rushes to attack them.

The heroes regroup to try and find a way to stop the Elder Gods from wreaking havoc on the world. While the rest of the team distracts Brother Voodoo enters the spirit world to find Marc’s soul. He is able to restore him to control of his body. Marc steals the totems back in time for the heroes to stop the gods and drag them back into their prison dimension. The Midnight Sons have saved the world and part ways. We get glimpses of what is to come for the characters. Brother Voodoo is summoned by the Sorcerer Supreme, Ava takes back the amulet and goes home to hear her aunt will be moving in to care for her. Blade and Skyla receive word of a new doctor for Fallon, Elsa and Jack decide to investigate her past, a new Ghost Rider is born, and Marc drives off into the night with Marlene, unbeknownst that, in a shadowy locale, Psi-Hawk appears once more, only to be caught and transformed back into his human form by none other than a scarred and bitter Randall Spector.

I'm sorry if I haven't commented on this sooner. I'm still around in case anyone's wondering.

- Michael Jai White may be too old for Blade. He would be good, don't get me wrong. Of course, I'm sure he hasn't lost his mojo yet.
- Isabela Moner would be interesting as White Tiger. How does Becky G., my choice, stack up?
- Not a bad choice for Elsa Bloodstone. I think Yvonne played a British woman one time.
- I'm actually down to seeing Anthony Anderson play a race-changed Ty Stone. People forget about his work in Def Jam Icon, which went under the radar.

- I like Christina Hendricks, but I'm not too thrilled on wanting her to play Lilith. How about someone with a tighter figure?
- I'm glad someone's giving attention to Martin Sensmeier after The Magnificent Seven. He's actually my choice to play Nightwolf in a Mortal Kombat movie. But I'm sure the role you gave him would be in his wheelhouse.
