The Phantom is one of the most under appreciated comic book characters of all time. Most people may not know that The Phantom was the first character to ever have the solid white eyes while wearing a mask that is standard in today's industry. He is also the first comic book character to ever wear the skin tight costume that is also standard. He truly is the first comic book superhero.

I will admit that the 1996 film is my ultimate guilty pleasure film. While that film has never been considered a superhero classic, it did have something that a lot of current comic book films have put to the side: the sense of adventure. The Phantom doesn't need to be dark and gritty. I created a story that is a little different than most comic book films out today. It is a coming of age story and also a story of family. It is about a young man fulfilling his destiny and becoming the man he was meant to be. My story has a sense of adventure. While it does cover dark and personal material, it is fun and would definitely be a summer blockbuster.

This is of course an update and would be set in the present day. This of course would mean that the spandex purple suit wouldn't work to well. i envisioned the suit as more tactical. it does keep some purple element s because having an all black suit would be just another Batman copy. My inspiration for the suit design was Snake Eyes from G.I.Joe Retaliation:

Picture the mask having an open mouth piece, but keeping the visor. I think with a few dashes of purple this would be the perfect modern update for The Phantom.

The story starts off with a young man, Kit Walker, who lost his parents when he was young and was raised by his aunt, Heloise. While having dinner with her one night there is a knock at the door, but all that is there is a mysterious letter with a wax seal in the shape of a skull melted onto the back . . .

Remember to check out my FAN-FIC: The Phantom!

Cast:

Kit Walker/The Phantom

Garrett Hedlund

Garrett is fantastic young actor and his character Sam Flynn in Tron: Legacy is actually what inspired my version of Kit. He is the tough guy with a heart always in the right place.

Heloise Walker

Diane Lane

Diane Lane is the perfect actress for the job. Her Martha Kent from this years Man of Steel is exactly who Heloise is. She wants to protect Kit and wants him to live a normal life, instead of becoming The Phantom.

Guran

Djimon Hounsou

Djimon is a powerful actor that would play well as he trains Kit to become the Phantom.

Diana Palmer

Missy Peregrym

This was a hard role to cast. I picked Missy because she is a beauty, but she also has that edge to her. She is an up-and-coming actress and is very good on Rookie Blue. Diana is Kit's main squeeze and life-long friend.

Maxwell Madison/Rama Singh

Faran Tahir

This guy plays a very good bad guy and I think it is time he deserves a main role. Madison was business partners with Kit's father. Madison is actually the leader of the ancient Singh Brotherhood and killed Kit's parents because he knew that his father was the Phantom.

Graft

Mads Mikkelsen

Mads is a fantastic bad guy and to see him be the physical threat to the Phantom would be perfect. Graft is Madison's right hand man.

Kit's Father

Billy Zane

Billy Zane was of course The Phantom in the original 1996 film. This is merely a cameo appearance and he shows up when Kit finds a video his father made for him. This would be a nice nod as this also shows Zane passing the Phantom legacy off to Hedlund.

I've always like the Phantom series...here in South Africa, we had the mini stories with our Sunday news paper. I've watched the movie as well, the tv series was kinda meh,but had its moments.

I would keep Kit's father alive, mainly in the beginning. Make it a disappearance rather than death/make it a mystery. I'd have Kit not know his father/his Legacy, let his aunt come search for him when his father disappears. Let her train him, but show the anguish as she always felt she was better than her brother, perhaps she was. But the Phantom must be male & its more familial that way. Let Guran be the spiritual guide, teaching him about the mystical elements that the Ghost who walks must inhabit. Even if both Kit & Heloise does not believe in it.

As for Diana, either a more active love interest & not a damsel. Make her a police officer/ FBI agent with secrets of her own. Investigating the Sigh brotherhood. Have her be undercover & thinks she protecting Kit, when they're both after the same thing.

At the end, have Kit make the Oath, he has accepted his destiny & seeks to follow his for fathers legacy...then a call over his radio/communicator,his fathers alive, warning of a bigger threat but gets cut off.

Having Heloise be resentful throughout the film isn't a very good plot device. That would only work if she was main character. It would almost make her an antagonist. She understands the legacy better than anyone. Because she wants Kit to live a normal life this creates the conflict in Kit whether or not to take Guran's offer of coming to Bangalla later in the story. Once Kit becomes The Phantom, however, she realizes what her family legacy and the legend of The Phantom really means.

The whole mystery of the film is who killed Kit's parents. At one point during the film he meets with Madison/Singh as a social visit to try and get more involved in the family company and Madison/Singh is wearing The Phantom's ring of protection. Kit is already the Phantom at this point and knows what it means, but Madison/Singh says it means something else. Kit becomes suspicious and starts investigating the real reason his parents died because he was lead to believe it was an accident.

Guran is Kit's spiritual and physical guide to The Phantom legend and legacy. He grew up with Kit's father as his best friend.

Diana Palmer is actually a very active character. She knows how to defend herself and is not a pushover. My version of her is that she is a very tenacious news reporter much like the 1996 film version. I like strong female characters and Heloise is the same way. She knows how to handle a gun and since she was the previous Phantom's sister she can take care of herself.

I can see that you took some inspiration from the 90's "Phantom 2040", am I right? Still, not a bad idea for a reboot.

When you have a moment, check out my latest fancast: "Batman: Son of the Demon", the animated adaptation.

Yeah there were some small inspirations. Heloise and her entire character is a direct carry over because she fits so well into the story.

Singh's alias, Maxwell Madison, is definitely a nod.

I like it! The suit idea is nice, maybe some VERY dark purple areas to please some fans.

You have a great fan cast here definitely have a great fan cast here for The Phantom, for The Ghost Who Walks

For Kit Walker/The Phantom I definitely agree with you on Garrett Hedlund he would be my pick too for this role

For Heloise Walker I definitely would go with Robin Wright formerly Robin Wright Penn or I would go with Tea Leoni

Djimon Hounsou as Guran, definite win here if you ask me, he would be perfect

As Diana Palmer I would have went with Emilia Clarke

But as for the rest of your cast I agree especially with Billy Zane playing Kit's father
