Helmut, the 13th Baron Zemo and the son of one of Captain America’s World War Two era enemies, the Nazi scientist Heinrich Zemo. One of Helmut Zemo’s most infamous accomplishments as a super villain was founding and leading the largest and deadliest incarnation of the super villain team known as the Masters of Evil...

A team that left its mark upon the Avengers with it’s successful invasion of the original Avengers Mansion which resulted in the torture of Avengers Mansion caretaker Edwin Jarvis, the savage near death beating of Olympian demi-god Hercules and the destruction of the Avengers Mansion itself. But Zemo’s boldest and most daring plan involving the Masters of Evil was yet to come.

The movie’s plot of course is this: After the seeming deaths of the Fantastic Four, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the majority of the active roster of the Avengers, the world is left without its major league heroes to defend it and keep the peace. The remaining super hero population steps up their efforts in defending the public from super human threats and new super hero teams begin to form as well. One group in particular catches the attention of the public and the press with their actions, a group calling themselves the Thunderbolts. Lead by the patriotic themed hero Citizen V the team consisted of members Meteorite, Techno, Mach -1, Songbird and Atlas and quickly gained acceptance and acknowledgement as possible replacement for both the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. But these heroes were not what they portrayed themselves to be. They were in fact Baron Helmut Zemo and a few loyal and steadfast members of the Masters of Evil: Moonstone, the Fixer, the Beetle, Screaming Mimi and Goliath. Their objective as planned by Zemo: As the Thunderbolts they would build their reputation and status as heroes in order to gain the security level privileges accorded to the Avengers as well as gain access to some, if not all of the sophisticated technology created by Reed Richards, all in an effort to download a virus program created by the Fixer that would give them control of all the world’s military computer systems. Although circumstances arise during the hero masquerade that allow the plan that Zemo had devised to become far more successful than he could have foreseen, it is not without a few unforeseen roadblocks along the way: the addition of a true young would be heroine into their ranks, the fact that some of the “Thunderbolts” were beginning to enjoy the benefits that came with living the life of a hero over the benefits gained through criminal means, and the return from the dead of the Avengers themselves. Here’s my cast and movie take for this story.

The Thunderbolts/Masters of Evil.

Thomas Kretschmann = Baron Helmut Zemo/Citizen V. He’s a solid actor and can pull off the air of both nobility and menace needed for the character.

Tabrett Bethell = Dr. Karla Sofen/Moonstone/Meteorite. Her character on the Legend of the Seeker series comes off as cold and hard to read at times, similar to Karla Sofen.

Jeremy Davies = P. Norbert Ebersol/the Fixer/Techno. Another solid actor and his turn as Daniel on Lost gives him cred as someone who can pull of a character that would be talking up a lot of science and tech speak.

Til Schweiger = Erik Josten/Atlas/Goliath. A big beefy guy who has the acting ability needed to play both good guy and bad guy as needed. Especially when it comes to this character later on in the movie.

Paul Blackthorne = Abner Jenkins/Mach-1/the Beetle. A strong actor with the ability to be both intense and down to earth for this character.

Leven Rambin = Melissa Gold/Songbird/Screaming Mimi. Same as with Blackthorne, she has the ability to play a character that is intense yet comes off as sweet and down to earth.

Brenda Song = Hallie Takahama /Jolt. Yeah going with the “goody- goody fluff” actress for this role exactly to play contrast to the rest of the “evil” Thunderbolts.

Alicia Witt = Dallas Riordan. She’s another strong and solid actress and would work just perfectly for a possible sequel where her character would become the new Citizen V after Zemo has stopped using the identity.

The Avengers. I’m casting the Avengers as if they have been around for several years (which they have) instead of the first time on screen. Please keep this in mind those of you who will chose to post up your favorite twenty something actor or actress whom you think should be this Avenger or that Avenger over what I have chosen here.

Sticking with current actor in the role, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Also sticking with actually cast but not yet seen in the role, actor Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

An Unknown as Steve Rogers/Captain America. Until the Captain America movie is released and he can prove otherwise, I’m not feeling Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. I think he is a decent enough actor but he doesn’t have the old school rugged handsome vibe like someone actually from back in the 30’s and 40’s era should have. He looks too much like a typical present day Hollywood pretty boy. On this casting I’m going the same route that I did with my Black Panther casting back in my Fantastic Four posting. Not casting the actor that’s pictured but rather a solid unknown actor with a similar physical appearance. Actor George Stults who is pictured has the right look of how I picture Steve Rogers in my head but unfortunately his acting skills don’t match his looks to pull off Captain America.

Aaron Eckhart = Hank Pym/Giant-Man. Giant Man at least for this outing. Long before either of the Nolan Batman films were even in the planning, Aaron Eckhart has been the number one casting choice on my list for a possible Hank Pym, and so I’m staying true to that.

Alyssa Milano = Jan Van Dyne/the Wasp. Going for the “Fashionista” vibe for Jan Van Dyne. Plus she has a little edge to her to make it believable that Jan was once leader of the Avengers. And she’s short in stature. I’m not feeling the idea of a tall Wasp.

Josh Holloway = Clint Barton/Hawkeye. That’s Right. Not Gambit. Hawkeye. Get rid of the five o’clock shadow as well as the surfer’s mullet, lighten his hair color up a bit then add his turn as James “Sawyer” Ford from Lost and we have our favorite loveable Avengers knucklehead Clint Barton. Also think sequel where he’s now the leader of the Thunderbolts.

Alicia Minshew = Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. Going with an unknown actress for this part. She’s a soap actress and the character that she plays comes across with the right combination of vulnerability and strength similar to Wanda.

Christopher Heyerdahl = the Vision. He’s pretty good at playing various stoic or minimally emotional characters and making them all seem different. Plus add his overall appearance and height to the equation to help bring the Vision to life.

Pretty decent cast, though we already have a Captain America and people just need to accept it. I really like Bethell, but the photo you posted does not do her justice. I am cool with Aaron Eckhart as Pym, but it appears that Nathan Fillion is in the driver's seat for Hank Pym right now. I would prefer Morena Baccarin for Wasp.

Evans is Cap why can't people just accept that? I mean you haven't seen anything other than one photo from Chris Hemsworth doesn't mean he's bad for the role or whatever.

You deal with it!!

Very cool casting picks dude!

I kinda could see HANK too! Great actor!!!

And yeah, stand by your picks!

Thumbs up from me...

Pretty good cast although casting a
not so good actor as Cap is silly!

I think it's OK to cast your own guys
for already established actors but
Stults looks more like the Nazi German
Master Man than American Steve Rogers!

Jan Pym does not have to be a midget just
because she's Wasp. She shrinks down to
diminutive size, she isn't always tiny!

Decent cast. I love the majority of the actual "Thunderbolts" cast, but the Avengers, at least the ones that you've chosen, aren't terrible, but do fall a little on the flat side. (not "flat" as in bad actors, just "flat" as in, I think they'd do better in other roles)

Kudos, though, for casting the "Real" Thunderbolts. I have a great sense of nostalgia for the Masters of Evil Thunderbolts, and you did them justice.

@TANKGIRL-- I think it's funny that you say Tabrett Bethell should play Ms. Marvel instead of Moonstone, because Moonstone was Ms. Marvel in recent years... sort of...

EyeofHorus - 5/16/2010, 3:27 PM
@ Lee,Anil & DDD : Thanks for acknowledging that this is indeed "FAN FICTION". I don't understand the attitudes of comic fans that have a problem with someone stating that they don't agree with official casting choices that get made for official movie projects. "Kiss Hollywood filmmakers asses like we do or else we label you as a dumb a**hole and you no longer belong to the comicbook geek fraternity?" Funny how it is these same people are very quick to toss out their personal choices when it comes to casting characters if your choices don't match with their own. Casting comics characters is a subjective thing. Not everyones take on a character will be the same for many different reasons such as for example how long you have been reading comics and when in a characters histories that you became a fan of them. Also artist renditions of characters play a part in how people visualize a character. Different art styles mean characters will vary in how they look from books/storylines that they appear in.

@ DDD : Go back and re-read what I wrote about Stults as Cap, I think you'll see that I said he can't play Cap nor do I want him to. Just think he has the right "old school era" look. And the height thing with Wasp was more about Jan Van Dyne's actual height. The character is around the 5'2" thru 5'4" range same as Alyssa Milano. Morena Baccarin who seems to be the fan favorite at on this site for the Wasp is around the 5'8" or 5'9" height range. That's what I'm not feeling.

Everyone of the mindset that thinks that when Hollywood makes casting choices for comic related movies and we comic fans should just except it even if we don't like it, will really be pissed off at me if I ever get around to posting my X-Men Universe Movie Casting & storylines. I'm ignoring everything that was done in the official X-Men movies that were already made and I even have Nick Fury and the Black Widow involved in one story and it ain't Samuel L. "Mutha F**kin'" Jackson or Scarlett Johanssen I have picked out for the roles.

jarydevan - 5/16/2010, 4:47 PM
Hmmmmmm this is sort of decent. I'm a fan of Thomas Kretschmann though, so naturally I like that pick. He's Daredevil in my opinion. But the only horrible thing in this is Jeremy Davies. I love him as an actor, but the only superhero he could play is Bruce Banner. Actually, if given the chance, he'd probably do a better job then Edward Norton.
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 5/16/2010, 5:02 PM
I understand it is Fan Fiction, but being some of the characters are already established and cast, reality does enter into the picture some if one is honestly wanting to see the actors cast in that role someday. If one isn't committed to seeing their cast come to fruition, why bother posting one other than to spark conversations and discussions like this? ;-) In either case, it's all good. Sparks some conversation and makes people take a look at things from other perspectives.
EyeofHorus
EyeofHorus - 5/16/2010, 7:19 PM
@ Ranger14: The whole point for me in making and seeing other fan casts is EXACTLY to see and get others to see things from other peoples perspective as well as other peoples creative sides. A large percentage of comic fans are creative and it's a bonding thing. Same as the love of comics. I personally have no asperations what so ever to be involved in the Hollywood scene, but I am a life long comic book fan and like everyone else I assume, I have opinions about comics and the characters that appear in them. So because I'm not Hollywood minded I shouldn't have an opinion on anything concerning comic related movies? And if I do then it's not worth crap for the same reason? That's just what these Fan Castings are from my point of view: Someone's Opinion.

I have no problem with anyone disagreeing with my opinions (or anyone else's for that matter) on anything I may express opinions about on this site. And when some else expresses opinions and it may be one I don't agree with, I not going to go out of my way to make it seem as if they shouldn't have expressed that opinion. It seems as if there are people with attitudes that clearly suggest that others shouldn't express an opinion because it may not be the "default popular opinion" of everyone else that may frequent this site. Why?? Comicbook Geek/Nerd version of the "Good Ol' Boys Club" perhaps? If you chose to except and support any and all official castings that come from Hollywood that's fine. You have every right to do so. But why does it seem that those of us who don't just except EVERY decision out of Hollywood and express it don't have the right to do so?

Ranger14
Ranger14 - 5/16/2010, 11:27 PM
EyeofHorus@ I hear ya. I guess we have a different view as to acceptance and liking decisions that are made by Hollywood. I don't like the all the decisions Hollywood makes, but I have to accept them. There is nothing I or anyone can do about the decisions once they are made. I despise the fact Russell Crowe was cast for Robin Hood. Hate it. But I have to accept it because he got the part. Life goes on and I am not going to waste much energy with it other than stating my opinion on it. Like you said... We all have our opinions. :-)

HORUS @ Exactly dude, too many geeks (lol) bend over and take what HOLLYWOOD gives them, or rams them! : D

Hell its a sad fact comic book fans accept that BORIGINS sh1TE! : P

WATCHMEN is the bar HOLLYWOOD has set and BORIGINS was nowhere near it!

As for FURY, kudos, man i really hope we never get a SHIELD movie with SLJ in because that'll be the only MARVEL movie i will never ever see, even when its on TV!

Great casting again man, i actually saw that dude you cast as CAP in a snake like creature Island movie the other day on TV, i can see it, he does deff have the look!

And anyone bitching on you man, all i can say is little minds man, little minds!

EyeofHorus@ you are right. You did say you didn't want him for the part of Cap America! I just would like to
see you choose someone you actually want to play him.
I'm very interested in who you would like for Cap!

I think I could have used a different word than silly!
I apologize if I showed you any disrespect! I never
meant to!

You're right Stults does have that old school Cap look!
This is a very interesting casting and not just the
same ol' same ol'!

TANK @ WTF thats your 152nd WASP pick now!!!

ITS GETTING SILLY LOL!

And why have you picked CATWOMAN?!?

: P
EyeofHorus
EyeofHorus - 5/17/2010, 6:55 PM
@ DDD : I didn't take your comment as disrespect. I was just pretty sure that you had misread what I had posted. :) The reason I didn't post an official choice for Captain America is at the moment I don't have one. The few people I have in mind for Cap or either too old or like Stults, not quite up to par in the acting abilities. If I had to cast someone I'd say Chris Egan, but I'd probably catch heat from alot of people over the fact that he's not an American. And heaven forbid if the actor playing the part of Captain America is not a full blooded born in the US of A American. That's Blasphemy!!!

@ Lee : I'm not sweating the "DEAL WITH IT/Accept IT" Clique. Notice who was the first person leading the charge hoping it wouldn't "virus". Nuff Said. I'd put down big money that IF the Captain America movie tanks (and I sincerely hope it does not) and IF the reason it does tank is Chris Evan's performance as Cap, the same individuals that were quick to say "deal with it" will be the first ones to jump on the band wagon to have Chris Evans replaced as Captain America prior to the release of the Avengers movie. Not only that but I'll even bet they'll "retcon" their postions to "We said deal with it, but we never agreed that he was a good choice. Oh No!! Never that!!"
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 5/18/2010, 3:58 PM
Yeah @ HORUS, i see dude!

And exactly, if he does a crappy job (which he wont) everyone will be the don't put him in the AVENGERS bandwagon!

I myself was never happy with the pick lol, MARVEL should have tried a lot harder, i still reckon its just coz they wanted their very own pick no one anywhere had thought of but I'm sure EVANS will do a fine job and hopefully well get that FF reboot movie out pretty quickly then we wont see EVANS as JOHNNY STORM so much lol! : P

Anyways EVANS a fine actor, I'm sure he'll be great as CAP!

Fingers crossed CAPTAIN AMERICA blows us all way!!
