FAN-FIC Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Big Budget FanCast

A Fan Cast of the original Power Rangers team, all grown up...

I was a huge fan of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as a kid, and like most of you i'm sure, the what seems like millions of different teams of Rangers that followed were and are a big disappointment. Although we got a feature length movie of the 'almost original' team that was good enough for me when i was younger, i would love a new Rangers film w the original team. But to mix it up a bit, what if it was the Rangers all grown up?

I haven't thought long enough about a full on detailed plot, but let's just say the original Rangers are 10-15 years removed grom graduation at Angel Grove. They are no longer Rangers, and lead fairly normal lives. But when Lord Zed and Rita threaten to take over the planet, Zordon calls on his first and best team of Rangers to defeat their evil once and for all.

I hope you enjoy.

Zordon-Liam Neeson

I think Neeson would provide great leadership, and would be the perfect man to call the Rangers back into action.

Alpha-Ken Jeong

I think Ken Jeong could nail the Alpha "Aye-yi-yi" and provide great humor to balance Neeson's Zordon

Red Ranger/Jason-Channing Tatum

He might not have the same look as the original Jason, but i think Tatum definitely has the fighting skills and leadership of the first captain of the Rangers.

Pink Ranger/Kimberly-Jennifer Garner

Garner fits this part for me on fighting skills alone. But she definitely can play that ditsy valley girl that Kimberly is when she's not kicking ass.

Black Ranger/Zack-Derek Luke

I think Luke has the look, the swag, and the fighting skills needed to play Zack. Pretty simply choice.

Yellow Ranger/Trini-Maggie Q

This one was too easy.

Blue Ranger/Billy-Tobey Maquire

He might be a little old, but he played Peter Parker while in his 30s. He has the look, and the fighting skills to be the brains of the team.

White Ranger/Tommy-Tom Hardy

I know it seems like Hardy is on everyone's fancasts for one part or another, but i really think he'd be a great Tommy. He has that badass quality, but i could also see him being able to have a relationhip w Jennifer Garner.

Saba-Paul Bettany (voice)

Tommy's J.A.R.V.I.S. if you will.

Lord Zed-Daniel Day-Lewis

He has the intensity and the acting chops to hold his own againt Liam Neeson and the Rangers.

Rita-Glenn Close

This might be an odd pick to some, but i based this off her performance as Cruella Deville. When i was a kid, that character in the movie actually kinda creeped me out. Plus, she kind of has a "Rita-esque" look in that movie.

Goldar-Djimon Hounsou

I've heard this guy have a pretty intense voice in multiple movies. Idk about you, but when i think of Goldar, his voice is the first thing that comes to mind. Hounsou can also no doubt be a great physical threat to the Rangers.

Squat and Baboo-Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey

Idk if these two have every been in a movie together, but i think they'd be hilarious together. I also based these picks of their ability to pull off the weird voices of Squat and Baboo.

Finster-Ewan McGregor

Not a lot to say on this one other than he's a Brit, a great actor, and i think he'd be good as Rita's mad scientist.

Bulk and Skull-Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn

I couldn't think of two better guys to play Bulk n Skull. They have obvious chemisty and are absolutely hilarious.

I'd ditch Tatum as he seems too young by comparison, the rest of them I could buy going to high school together I guess.

But I like it, it be quite a sight to see the Rangers be taken that seriously for sure.

Out of all the great, mediocre, and bad fan casts for Power Rangers, I really dislike this one. In my opinion, for someone who has watched the show for years, this is not what power rangers is all about. I respect your ambition for making Power Rangers a viable topic, but I'm not feeling this one. Sorry, check mine out, it has gotten great feedback!:

...aren't they supposed to be teenagers? I mean, overall a damn solid cast...just 10-15 years too old on a lot of them.

Thanks for the feedback

Channing Tatum seems to be the oddball for most and i can see why. He was the toughest to cast. I'm sure if i thought a little more i could've found a better Jason.

Other than that i really like the rest of the cast.

@Captain DC

Not hating, but i feel lilke all you did was take the Power Ranger Movie and recast it w today's young stars. That's not what this is. Maybe that's what you mean by the 'this is not what the Power Rangers is all about' comment, whatever that means. These guys are grown, not HSers.

@Scootie

This comes from the idea that the Rangers have grown up, stopped being Rangers, then were called back by Zordon. I thought i said that in article.

First I thought wow, his people are way too old, but then I read the part about this being when they are quite a bit older. It's an interesting idea, and the choices are pretty solid.

Here's a question why not go with the original cast. The only one you would have to replace is Trini plus it would be nice to see Jason David Frank back in action!

Jason David Frank never left action. He's an MMA fighter now.

I'm glad most of you really like it.

The Rangers are very near and dear to my heart and i really tried to do them justice.

I can only imagine how great this movie would be if it were taken just a little more seriously than the show and the first movie. Could you imagine the Megazord w Transformer-like CG? wow.

Go Go Power Rangers.
