FANCAST- Centurions!

FANCAST- Centurions!

The Sky is on Fire! Fancast for the 80's show I so very much loved. Also this is my second ever article and my first go at a fancast!

I loved the cartoon series. It's a pity they don't air it on any channel in my country any more. Though there could, of course, be a movie on that. That would be a mind blowing way for bringing the franchise back.

So, for those who don't know much about it,the basic plot summary is as follows.

In the near future, world peace is threatened by the villain going by the name, Doctor Terror.
The government, to fight the menace, sets up a team of operatives codenamed Centurions, equipped with what is known as "Exo-frames" that allow them (upon shouting "Power Extreme") to fuse with 'incredible' assault weapon systems, becoming what the show calls man and machine, Power Xtreme! The end result is a weapons platform somewhere between a hard-suit and a mecha. Originally there are three Centurions but two other Centurions are later added.
The original Team...

Max Ray- Brilliant Sea Operations commander.
Jake Rockwell- Rugged Land Operations Specialist
Ace McCloud- Daring Air Operations Expert

Whatever the challenge, they are ready!
They are the Centurions! POWER XTREME!!!

Later additions (in the film they'd make cameo appearances)are

Rex Charger- Energy Specialist
John Thunder- Apache Infiltration Operations Specialist.

The Centurions are based on an orbiting space station called Sky Vault where Crystal Kane, Centurions behind the scenes controller and provider of tech support, uses a transporter to send the Centurions, and the requested weapon systems, to where they are needed. Crystal is always in the company of either Jake Rockwell's dog Shadow or Lucy the orangutan, or in most cases both. Shadow is usually more involved with the Centurions' battles than Lucy and sports a harness with dual missile launchers. Crystal suggests tactics and sends equipment as required. The Centurions also have a hidden base in New York City called "Centrum".

Doctor Terror is accompanied by Hacker, who is a cyborg, and his daughter Amber.

Here is what I think the cast could be... I have chosen The Centurions to be in the late 30s to early-40s for some reason... their illustrations in the cartoon just make me feel they aren't really very young.

1. Ace McCloud

Daniel Craig- I know he just recently had a career blip called Cowboys and Aliens but apart from that he is a good actor and I can totally see an Ace McCloud in him.
FILM CREDITS- Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Cowboys and Aliens

2. Max Ray

Timothy Olyphant- Though people may doubt his ability to give expressions (he always looks angry, even when he's not) I for one will put trust in his acting especially basing that on Deadwood (Obviously, I wouldn't even like to remember Hitman now, would I). It helps that he looks like Ray with a mustache.
FILM CREDITS- Deadwood (TV Series), Hitman, The Crazies, Die Hard 4.0.

3. Jake Rockwell

Lawrence Fishburne- He is an amazing actor. The only thing is he could have been 5-6 years younger he would have fitted the cast as a glove. I was looking for an younger alternative honestly but just couldn't find one. Other serious contender was Denzel Washington. But he's even older! But doesn’t matter. An actor of his caliber could easily pull this one off.
FILM CREDITS- Matrix trilogy, Predators, Man of Steel, 21.

4. Crystal Kane

Kate Mara- Another character which made me think a lot. I've just seen her in Shooter and 127 hours. She is a pretty good actress and its always a bonus that she's hot!
FILM CREDITS- Shooter, 127 hours, Brokeback Mountain.

5. Doc Terror

Willem Dafoe- Another actor whom I find amazing. He'd be at home playing a psychotic villain, won't he? Plus he looks exactly like Terror.
FILM CREDITS- Spiderman, Shadow of the Vampire, Platoon, xXx2.

6. Hacker

Kevin Durand- I hear he's almost mandatory if you need a big guy. And he is a good actor.
FILM CREDITS- Robin Hood, Legion, X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

7. Amber

Milla Jovovich- With so much Resident Evil going around, we tend to forget she isn't a bad actress at all. Her presence should lend even more credibility to an already strong (I hope?)cast as far as the action genre is concerned.
FILM CREDITS- RE, The three Musketeers, The Fifth Element.

8. Rex Charger

Sean Bean- Its a short appearance with the role expanding in probable sequels. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
FILM CREDITS- Game of Thrones (TV Series), LoTR, Silent Hill, Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief.

9. John Thunder

Raul Trujillo- He is of Native American descent and about the age I wanted... that's not too easy to find, trust me! Did mighty well on Apocalypto and was on the recent dud Cowboys and Aliens.
FILM CREDITS- Apocalypto, Cowboys and Aliens.

That's it for now. This of course is my second article. My first can be found here-

I know Fishburne is a little too fat... but that could be mended with some workout?
Selleck is TOO old...

But I'll think about it obviously... thanks for the comments...

It's almost funny that you used Raul Trujillo for a fancast on this site--in the 1999 Avengers cartoon, he voiced Namor the Sub-Mariner in their 6th episode.

I haven't watched Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light. So its gonna be difficult for me. Others can.

My favourite fancasts I wanna do are

He- Man and the Masters of the Universe

Thundercats (but I never got to watch the extended team, so that's gonna be a problem)

Johnny Quest

The Phantom

Justice League- I'd do a Justice League Europe sometime based on the New 52. I loved DDD's casting of Fire and Ice... BEST CASTING ever.

Along with stuff I don't remember right now.

Thanks a lot for your comments. For a kind of greenhorn at this (I wouldn't say I'm new to the site coz I'm not, it makes me feel welcome. Thank you.

Though I'm not quite sure if people actually like the fancast or are just happy there is a Centurions fancast on the board! LOL

PS: How do I add images to comments from let's say image hosting sites like Photobucket... will simply copying [IMG] codes do?
