Hi everyone, I know that I already wrote an article about that about a year ago, but here are some new thought about the direction of the Batman reboot. In this editorial, I will explain what tone, costume and story the first Batman movie should have.
Tone
The tone of the film should be a mix of Batman the animated series, The Arkham games, and be set in the same real world universe of Man Of Steel. Have a Gotham that feels real, like in Year One or the current Snyder run. But that does not mean that this Gotham can’t have gargoyle and a somewhat Gothic feel, the city should be a mix of new and old. With the Man Of Steel universe we can introduce sci-fi based villain within a world that feel real. Ever since I saw Watchmen, I thought that Zack Snyder would do a great Batman movie, but now he's doing another DC character, still I would like to see him do a Bat flick. The shot of Rorschach under the rain or all the fight choreography, imagine that in Batman movie.
Costume
The costume of the Cape crusader should, like many fans want to see, be the one from the comic that we never got on screen, which is the black cape and cowl with the gray body suit. The new 52 suit or the Arkham suit should be the inspiration, but I also like The Dark Knight head piece that can allow Bruce to move his head.
Now let’s go in the fan-fic territory;
Comic book story influence
The influence for the story would be both Robin Year One & Batman and the Monster Men.
Villains
The main Villain will be Hugo Strange.
His “henchman” will be Killer Croc.
Carmine “The Roman “Falcone has a secondary villain.
With Tony Zucco.
The Story
Batman has been operating for 2 years now. Most of the organized crime has been shut down. Only the stronger crime empires still work, but barely. One of those empires is the Falcone family.
The Roman will be who the audience assumes is the villain. Now that he is on his knees, the Roman is more violent than ever and to show too the wealthy of Gotham that the city is still his, he send Tony Zucco to execute The Flying Graysons while they are performing. Bruce witness young Dick becoming orphan at the hand of the dirt from Gotham. That night (really late, like morning late), Bruce have a nightmare about his parent’s death. He tells Alfred that it’s the first time since his Alter-ago creation that he has that type of nightmare.
Bruce is sure it’s because of the boy, and with a mix of confusion between two conflicting thought, one being that he doesn’t want the boy to end-up like him and the other being that the boy could actually become a greater crime fighter than him, he decides to take Dick out of the Wayne orphanage. He singe so that he and Alfred be his foster family.
Meanwhile, Doctor Hugo Strange, a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, his fascinated not only by human mind, but also by his genetic and by what make human different from beast. He bride’s grades to make genetic experience on subjects using highly illegal material that he bought form Falcone. The inmates or transformed into mindless monster men. Later The Roman send Zucco to threaten Strange for his late payment.
Evan if Alfred disapproves, Bruce reveals his dual identity to Dick and start training him. While Bruce leaves the cave, Dick gets in his computer to find has much information as he could on the Falcone crime family. Dick than steal a motorcycle and go out to catch Zucco by himself.
Zucco, and some other henchmen are playing a poker game when Strange walk-in. After an argument to the Why he is there, Strange seems to leave, but then crash in the room with a moving truck and resale what in it, a monster man. All of the men are killed by the monster.
Dick who had that poker room on his GPS arrives there to find the man who murders his parents already dead. Batmen arrive on the crime scene and find these to be a good start for training Dick detective skill. He gave him a domino mask in case anyone would arrive.
Strange test again his genetic experiment on a subject, who already has a skin condition, Waylon Jones. Strangely Jones doesn’t lose his mind like the other Monster Men. Because his skin look like crocodile skin, Strange rename him Killer Croc.
Batman makes a costume for Dick so they can both go out and investigate.
Batman will later find Strange lab and be trap. He will have fight 3 monster men at the same time. He will use all the resource he has to defeat them.
That the basic of the story. The big showdown will take place in Falcone house were Strange send Killer Croc too kill the Roman. Batman and Robin will have to fight both Croc and Falcone henchman.
Thing I want to see:
- Bruce making his own gadgets.
- Dick needs to be 14-15 year old.
- Robin costume like the Young Justice one but with the cape fully black.
- Bruce & Dick relation and parallel.
- Batman master of Martial Art.
- Batman starts becoming the world greatest detective.
