Idea for a potential Star Wars Video Game

With EA rebooting Battlefront, and a new Star Wars trilogy on the way, is it possible that we're going to see more Star Wars games in the future? If so, this is an idea I had for one type of game I would like to see.

So, the popular Star Wars game series, Battlefront is getting a reboot. Does that mean that the long dry streak after Lucasarts went out of business is over? Will we be getting more Star Wars games? I certainly hope so.

I started having thoughts on what I wanted to see in a future Star Wars game, and this is what I came up with; it's a game set during the Clone Wars (Not the Clone Wars series. But the Clone Wars era. I don't want it associated in any way with the cartoon).

This game is called Star Wars: Jedi Hunter and players get to play as the fearsome Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) general, Grievous

Why General Grievous, you're probably asking. Well simple. Episode III and the Clone Wars show really made Grievous kind of a pussy. I mean, the first sign of somethign going wrong, and he's heading for the hills. I have a theory on why this is though. Every time we see him fight, he's always fighting a main character or a character who we know does not die at that point in time. (For example, we know that every time he fights Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan is going to live, because he's killed by Darth Vader in Episode IV). Because of this, the writers have to write a way to ensure that the character survives, and the way they write it often involves Grievous retreating for some reason or other.

I think, if we got the chance to see his full potential, Grievous could be such a badass. That's partially why I don't this game set during the Clone Wars series. Ideally, because of how brutual we've seen Grievous get, this game would have an M rating. But...in a perfect world.

Basically, the game is Grievous traveling from world to world using his abilities to hunt and kills jedi. I want to be REALLY careful about how this is done because The Force Unleashed was about a jedi hunter.

Gameplay: The problem, I've found with most (not all) Star Wars games, is that if the character has a lightsaber, it's really just a hack n slash. I don't want this game to be like that. Grievous has displayed talent with several different weapons. So, I want a game that makes you think. You have to use specific weapons to solve puzzles or defeat certain enemies.

Close quarters (hand-to-hand) combat: This is really where the M rating I want for this game would shine. In the game's early missions, Grevious has no weapons so he's forced to use his bare hands to fend off foes. His attacks consists of brutal punches and violent grapples.

Blaster pistol: The first weapon Grievous gains in the game is a single blaster pistol. While great for taking at enemies at medium and long range, it's practically useless at close range, forcing you to use either Cloe-quarters or a melee weapon. It's also great for keeping enemies at bay. As the game progresses, players can upgrade the pistol into a slightly stronger blaster rifle.

Electrostaff: The first melee weapon Grievous gains in the game, the electrostaff is notable for being the weapon of his magnaguards; the droid general, however, can also use it with deadly accuracy. This is another moment where an M rating would make the game shine. The electrostaff is really just a blunt instrument that emits an electric shock. If the game were M rated, players would get to see Grievous use his brute strength to ram it through opponents.

As I said, I want this game to challenge players and think, so they're no always using one weapon. The electrostaff is an example of that. Say, you're in a facility, and the enemy and you come across a deactivated bridge. To prevent you from suceeding, your enemy has shut down power to the entire facility. Grievous can use the electrostaff to jump start the circuts and activate the bridge. Just an example of one of the in-game puzzles.

One Lightsaber: After killing your first jedi, Grievous will get a singular lightsaber. While used for a very breif time, the droid general is very deadly with just one of these "elegant weapons."

Two Lightsabers: After killing your second jedi, Grievous gets his dual lightsabers. Nothing much to say there.

Rage Mode: Towards the game's climax and ending, Grievous will be temporarily able to go into a "rage" mode. In this rage mode, he goes into 4 saber mode, his attacks are increased and he's temporarily invulnerable. This is meant to be a player's last resort if they're getting they're ass kicked bad. To make sure it's not used constantly, the rage meter will fill up slowly and then replenish quickly when in use.

Vehicles: I would also want the game to have some vehicular gameplay. Not too much. But, after a while of hacking and slashing and just all around rampaging, I would like players to have a break by getting to pilot the droid general's vehicles.

Starfighter: Grievous' personall starfighter. Missions involving the starfighter would either take place in space or in the atmosphere of varying planets and involve the general leading a CIS fleet on the offensive or defensive.
Wheel bike: Having two modes (walker and bike), the general's personal vehicle is a deadly machine. Players will be able to shoot at opponents with the bike's canon or can even perform melee attacks with a lightsaber or electrostaff to shake off enemies. In "walker" mode, the player can use the bike's claw-like legs to climb walls and other surfaces, and even use some grapple attacks.

So what do you guys think? Would you play this game?

As always, I thank you for reading and commenting.

Star Wars literally has so much potential for a truly great game that its a shame nothing good is being done with them. The new Battlefront game could be the best Star Wars game ever, but only because we haven't seen many great Star Wars games out there in terms of what they are capable of. Great ideas here MCott.

Eh, good ideas but i'm not really a fan of General Grievous, only because the character is attached to that awful film.

Make it now!!!!!! This would be so awesome. I've wanted a Star Wars game in a similar nature to assassins creed and the arkham games for awhile now. Also, why did they have to cancel the boba fett game. It looked like so much fun. I agree though, cut the hack and slash down on whatever comes next.

@MightyZeus, I kinda agree with you. But, for one thing, the Clone Wars series was everything the prequels should have been. For another thing, you do have to admit some of my points make sense about the character.

@taran6, I'm a huge fan of star wars games. ANd that's soemthing I'm starting to notice in a lot of them. With the exception of a few of them (KOTOR and Empire at War come to mind specifically), the moment your character gets a lightsaber, the game becomes a hack n' slash. I wanted to retain the character's use of a lightsaber, but try and cut out that hack n' slash element.

I don't know if anyone remembers this but they had those 15 minute animated Star Wars Clone Wars cartoons that were on years ago when Revenge of the Sith came out but that was the first time I saw General Grievous and he was a complete badass in it.

If you don't remember this here it is. Grievous was a complete badass in it so I think this is a cool idea for a game. Too bad has was wasted in revenge of the Sith.
