My Man of Steel 2 Plot

My Man of Steel 2 Plot

Superman needs the help of another Hero to save the world for the second time, he certainly cannot do this on his own.

Let's face it! It's too early for a Justice League movie. So let's now focus on how to lay down the foundation of that movie.

In my opinion, the best way to do this is through the Man of Steel sequel. As was shown in the Man of Steel, different characters in the DCCU exist in the same world (like the satellite which confirms the existence of Bruce Wayne). While it may be too early for a Batman reboot, it would make sense to atleast introduce him in the Man of Steel (MoS) sequel.

There are a several plot scenarios which may allow this. One of which is if Braniac will be included in the MoS sequel. Superman can match his strength, but while Superman is not stupid, he might need the assistance of an almost genius level Batman to counter every one of Braniac's plans. Also, Wayne is probably the only person who could supply the tech which might be necessary to stop Braniac.

If you don't like to place Batman in the MoS sequel, there could be several heroes to choose from. Like Flash, Manhunter, Wonder Woman, GL, or Aquaman. I think it would be great to see Superman seek Manhunter for assistance. Their role need not be that long that it looks like it's their movie, but their assistance must be so necessary in a sense that Superman cannot save the world without such help.

OR since, Superman battles create so much collateral damage, another hero gives assistance in keeping the civilians safe from harms way as Superman neutralizes the threat.

I couldn't really think of a complete story line right now, I just had this thought the other day and wanted to share it. IMO, it would be great story wise and would lay the foundation for a Bigger movie like the Justice League.

a sub-plot like the episode Speed Demons, in TAS would be cool.

When I go into the theater with the intention of watching a Superman movie, then I only want to see Superman and his very own adventure. With some supporting characters related to him, perhaps, but not another character worthy of his own title. If that's what I want to see, then I'll go see a team-up movie, not a "solo" Superman movie.

@Bats

Yeah, I guess that would be great if they could place Bruce Wayne (not Batman) in the sequel with more than a cameo role.

@Jolt17

Yes, that made sense, I would also want to see Superman save the day in a Superman movie. But the thought of having another hero appear in Man of Steel 2 even just to assist in evacuation gets me excited for a team up movie afterwards. Like @bats said, the appearance should not be a cameo.

We have to consider that some of the JLA characters would not have their own movies, so it would be nice if they can be introduced in the MoS sequel.

I had this thought too but I realized it wouldn't be a solo film if it had people featured.

What could be done in the sequel is a mention of news reports from the daily planet emerging about superheroes revealing themselves

acheronmagnuz: It would be too distracting, still, especially if it's NOT just a cameo. A cameo appearance will not let people wonder, "Oh, why is he just there and not getting any further development?" because its restricted capacity already justifies that question, but anything beyond that would demand that question to be answered, otherwise it would be considered as a plot hole. In a medium as prestigious as the silver screen, you can't just feature superhero guest star of the day in a solo outing as it was in comic books or animated series, because everything must be handled with great precision, unless you want to let one simple case of throwing-something-into-there-for-the-sake-of-being-there to drag your movie way down. Yes, the notion of seeing other heroes giving the character a hand IS exciting, but for what purpose? A solo Superman movie's aim must be to establish Superman's character as who he's supposed to be - something that I personally feel has not been accomplished in Man of Steel - thus featuring another major character who is big enough to hold his own title in it is not only distracting, but is enough to undo the point of the movie in the first place.

Speaking creatively; say, Batman appears by the end of the long string of action setpieces to help Superman evacuating the city during the aftermath. Questions such as, "Why is he just appearing by now?" or, "...How?" I guarantee will arise - yes, that idea seems abrupt, has no real "ground" to stand on, and is obviously just shoved in there, again, for the sake of being there. In the end, people will wonder, "Why are they even waiting for a team-up movie?" because such an appearance is enough a sign that you can bring the character at its entirety into the movie, just not willing to give him the capacity he deserves for whatever the reason.

That's about my two cents on that matter; I'm truly sorry if I sounded harsh at times (I think I did), but that's just me offering a different way of viewing the matter, so I hope in the end it can bring you one or two things to further be considered. :)

@jolt17

Yes, you "sound" harsh in your comments. That's fine though, I don't really mind. (",) I also try to learn from your comments.

However, I would need to disagree that Superman's character development had not been established in the Man of Steel. In my opinion, the development of the character had been properly set, not done yet, not perfectly, but the development of the character is there. The plot in the MoS is something that he must experience at this point to be the man that he needs to be. It may not be an exact replica of the comic story, but a logical path nevertheless.

And I've already conceded my BATMAN plot appearance to that of Batsfan's BRUCE WAYNE appearance. I think that would make more sense.

One thing for sure, whether there will be cameos or appearances in the MoS sequel, that movie will also be awesome!

@airbeyonder18

Yes, jolt17 made a very good point at that too.

Thus, let's just wait for the sequel and a possible team up movie (I hope) before the JLA.

Looks like my plot was not hopeless after all. :)
