Shadow of the Bat: Preview

A 68 Page Preview of the first in a planned Earth One-Inspired Trilogy.

For starters, the idea for this script came to me in a dream. Batman, standing in the shadows, preparing to pounce on one of his greatest foes: the Penguin. Nothing else.

Then I read Batman: Earth One and loved it. The way the characters blended together. The story. The dialogue. Being the CBM fan that I am, my mind instantly began thinking of ways an adaption could work. After days of rough drafting a final plot, I came up with one.

This script will take a large chunk of inspiration from Earth One, obviously, but also several other Batman media outlets. The Arkham games. The Nolanverse, in terms of seriousness and atmosphere (although it won't be nearly as strict on superpowers, seeing as how this might be set in the same universe as a planned Superman script I've been thinking of). The Burtonverse in terms of old buildings and areas. And finally, a bit of my own storytelling, with origins and villain adaptions.

I've also developed a rough fan-cast of who I'd like to see play who. It'd go somewhat like this:

Wes Bentley as The Batman/Bruce Wayne
Sean Connery as Alfred Pennyworth
Eva Green as Vicki Vale
Bob Hoskins as Oswald Cobblepot
Mark Harmon as Lieutenant James Gordon
Ryan Gosling as Detective Edward Nigma
Jamie Alexander as Lady Shiva
Jude Law as David Cain

Hey, you should upload your script to scribed.com then can embed it in the article.

Try out @Knightrider's recommendation about Scribd. I'm pretty sure you've heard about it. A lot of folks use it to upload PDF documents so they can be neatly embedded into their articles. Plus, it's easy to access with Facebook.

As for your script (which I'm looking at on Dropbox right now), I always get excited to read an unproduced screenplay from fans on here. Especially nice when they get the format down. I like the stories you've chosen for inspiration. Since it's a weekday, I'll have to find time to read this, so I'll tell you what: I'll give you praise and/or criticism once I finish... which will probably be at 7PM Pacific Time Wednesday.

So I started reading further (Page 8), and... I take back what said about formatting. Did you use a Word Processor (Microsoft Word, iWorks Pages)? Try Celtx while you're at it. It's a free screenwriting software a lot of people use. It'll format your dialogue, action, sluglines, etc. All with the proper margins, as well.

Thanks for the tip about Scribd, it really helped, and its easier than visiting Dropbox to read. Also, the margins are the only part of screenwriting format I've been confused about, so I didn't worry about them, but hopefully Celtx can help. Thanks for reading it by the way!
