Superman: Man of Steel FANCAST

My UPDATED Fancast for who I would like to see for the Man of Steel Movie and a director.

DC FANCASTS

Superman: Man of Steel
The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive
Wonder Woman
Batman Rebot

Since I changed 4 of the actors and added some more villains I figured I might as well repost the whole article. And I added the most important part; the Director.

Clark Kent/Superman: Henry Cavill (The Tudors)

He seems the best choice at the moment. He defiantly has the talent to play Superman. Though I WOULD PREFER AND TOTAL UNKOWN I’m sure he could do it. I’m a little concerned he’s not big enough though.

Lois Lane: Anne Hathaway (Alice in Wonderland)

It’s suggested it before. I think she would do a great job portraying a tough Lois while keeping her most important qualities.

Jimmy Olsen: Rupert Grint (Harry Potter)

Why has no one thought of this before? I’ll admit he’s not perfect but he could totally do it.

Perry White: Bruce Cambell (Army of Darkness)

He looks the part, he could do a more comedic version of the character (without being to comedic). That way he won’t be too similar to J Jonah Jameson.

Jor-El: Hark Harmon (NCIS)

He seems like an old Superman to me (he voiced Superman in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) so it seems right to make him Supes’ dad. He could do a very different version of Jor-El (compared to Marlon Brando)

Lara Lor-Van: Marina Sirtis (Star Trek: The Next Generation)

I think her role as Deanna Troi in STNG would transfer well to Superman’s mom.

Jonathan Kent: Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek)

Just watch him as Christopher Pike in "Star Trek".

Martha Kent: Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia)

She’s a talented actress and could totally play the role.

Villains

PS. I don’t want to see all of these villains in the first movie.

Lex Luthor: Eric Bana (Star Trek, Hulk)

I originally had Zachary Quinto but I re-watched Star Trek recently and I realized Eric Bana would be even better. The scene where Nero interrogates Pike reminded me of Kevin Spacey.

Brainiac: Raph Fienes (Harry Potter, Clash of the Titans)

I know a lot of people have him as Luthor, but I think Fienes is better at playing an emotionless villain-like Braniac. It would be cool if they went with the story that Brainiac destroyed Krypton.

Mercy Graves: Summer Glau (Serenity, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles)

Who Else?

Metallo: Garret Dillahunt (Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles)

He has that look I associate with Metallo, and Metallo basically is a terminator.

Bizzaro: Henry Cavil (no duh)

I don't want to see the silly Bizzaro from the comics. I'd rather see a totally insane Bizzaro that jsut flies around destroying stuff.

General Dru-Zod: Sergio Castellitto (Prince Caspian)

I don’t like Gerald Butler for Zod. I was watching Prince Caspian and when I imediatly thought of Zod

Ursa: Helena Bonham Carter (Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland)

She would do a great job playing a really crazy version of the character

Non: Dave Legeno (Harry Potter)

He was Fenrir Greyback in Harry Potter. His look reminds me of the doglike non for Superman 2. But to be honest I didn’t but a lot of thought into this one. Dang a lot of these are Harry Potter

And now for the director: the one who would make all of this work. Drum roll please…and the director is

J.J ABRAMS

What Abrams did to Star Trek was not perfect by any means but it’s exactly what we need right now for Superman. Abrams could do a great job making a very cool, relatable, action-packed, testosterone filled version of Superman while still staying fairly accurate to the comics.

I disagree with Superman, Jimmy Olsen, and maybe Zod. The others are quite solid.

Everyone knows how I feel about Cavill for Superman. Not big enough and not masculine enough for my taste.

LEEE777 - 6/14/2010, 1:26 PM

secretasianboy: Well, I don't not like Grint, he's alright in the Potter films, but just doesn't seem like the Jimmy type. I think there are better young actors out there.

AshleyWilliams - 6/14/2010, 1:50 PM
Olivia Wilde is by far the best choice for Lois Lane IMO.
Though i think Henry Cavill is one of the best choices for Superman,WB seems to be going for American actors only. A new name for Superman:Harmon Walsh.
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 6/14/2010, 2:01 PM
Having only an American play Superman is stupid as hell. He's an alien. As long as the actor can sound the part and at least be made to look the part, who gives a shit if he's American or not?

He's a freaking alien.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 6/14/2010, 2:19 PM
TYLER @ i actually agree with you there!!

SUPERMAN is an alien, this ain't CAPTAIN AMERICA or nothing @ NIGHT! ; D

I'm sure whoever WB picks in the end, they'll pick a good un!
secretasianboy
secretasianboy - 6/14/2010, 2:52 PM
@LEE777 thanks
@InTylerWeTrust I understand what you mean about Grint and i think Olivia Wilde is to hot to play Lois
@NightAvenger Lee and Tyler are right here Superman is a very patriotic hero but that doesn't mean he can't be british HE"S A FREAKING ALIEN!!!
AshleyWilliams
AshleyWilliams - 6/14/2010, 3:06 PM
I said that wrong. I want Cavill for Superman. I think it is smart because some people might not like a Brit playing Superman. Which is studid as ####. Cavill has the role down pat. He has the look, presence, and talent to play Superman. I actually dont give a flying load of SH!TE if he's British or not.
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 6/14/2010, 3:18 PM
They won't care if Cavill (not that I want him to be Superman, he doesn't have what it takes) or any other foreign actor (as long as it's reasonable, we don't want someone from Japan or something playing Superman) is British or whatever. If the performance and reasonable looks are there, that's all that will matter I'm sure. Only some of the super hardcore fanboys might get their panties in a bunch, but it is what it is.

Great cast probably one of the more original other than Cavill as Supes everyone seems to pick him for supes but I like your Zod pick.
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 6/14/2010, 4:42 PM
Yes, he is an alien. I am fine with a British actor, just not one who is boyish and feminine. While Superman is an alien, he is also masculine. ;-)
AshleyWilliams
AshleyWilliams - 6/14/2010, 6:25 PM
Tyler, how would you react if Cavill was cast? LEEE? Just wondering.
secretasianboy
secretasianboy - 6/14/2010, 6:56 PM
@SUPERBATSPIDERMAN thanks i thought no one would like my Zod
@Ranger14 i'm just going to ignore your comments of on him being gay
Saga
Saga - 6/14/2010, 7:49 PM
is a very expensive cast for a superman movie dont you think?
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 6/14/2010, 9:38 PM
secretasianboy@ I never said he was gay. I said he wasn't very masculine. There is a big difference. Cavill is not gay. Bomer is, but Cavill is not. I don't see why it is so hard for people to understand why someone would want a more masculine actor playing the role of Superman. Feminine traits are hard to hide completely when a guy is playing a major role in a movie. Kind of like Worthington and his accent. ;-)
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 6/16/2010, 5:06 AM
VirtualVD @ TYLER wants him for Batman, so i don't get your argument LMAO! ... and you've obviously never seen TUDORS then dude lol!

NIGHT @ Lol!

Well I'd rather keep ROUTHY but be awesome if we got CAVILL!

ANIL @ Why you got BATMAN up??? : P

LEEE777
LEEE777 - 6/16/2010, 3:33 PM
VirtualVD @ Dense goes to you IF he's not big enough for SUPERMAN, no way in hell is he big enough for BATMAN! ; P

Plus I've seen the dude in more than just TUDORS!

If i had my way, we'd be sticking with ROUTHY anyways lol!
secretasianboy
secretasianboy - 6/16/2010, 4:32 PM
@VirtualVD
How is he not Big enough he's 2 inches shorter than welling and routh and 3 inches shorter than Reeve and he's pretty muscular to

@LEEE777
Routhy? really what type of nickname is that
secretasianboy
secretasianboy - 6/17/2010, 9:42 AM
@VirtualVD i'm sure he could get into shape in no tim (taylor launter did it) and i doubt you have a better build
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 6/17/2010, 12:09 PM
I am 6'1" and 220 and I don't have the physical stature to play Supes...in my opinion. I would like to see someone 6'3" or even pushing 6'4" to play the part. A couple inches in height can make a big difference in putting on muscle and having a more imposing physical presence.

Though we would never see them on the same big screen together..Thor should not make Superman look wimpy. I see them more on equal ground. We need someone close to a Hemsworth stature to play Supes.

secretasianboy
secretasianboy - 6/17/2010, 12:11 PM
@VirtualVD Ranger14 alright that isn't bad and you do have a valid point
can we just agree to disagree?
who would you suggest: an unknown?
secretasianboy
secretasianboy - 6/17/2010, 3:17 PM
@VirtualVD Understandable, i think people underestimate welling (he's not a bad actor)
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 6/17/2010, 5:58 PM
I actually would be fine with Welling playing the part as well. Has the look, the stature and physique, knows the character development and what it means to accept the role of Superman (finally this next season). I think he gets a bad rap with the acting as I see it more of direction keep him reigned into a box of what they want to see from Clark.
