This isn't a traditional Superman movie in that none of Superman's mainstay villains(Zod, Mentallo, et. al) are in in this, but Slade Wilson was selected for the following reasons:
1)He will set up Luthor as a major player in this new DCEU with the money and resources to hire a merc like Slade
2)Makes Slade look amazing in a future Teen Titans and/or Dick Grayson solo
3)Makes beating Slade more impressive
Also, an end credits cameo(a Justice League won't make itself)
Jake Gyllenhaal as Batman/Bruce Wayne

Why:He's young enough to carry a Batman franchise and even tested for the role once(Begins).
