First Look At Rose McGowan As Marquie In Conan The Barbarian?

The first trailer for Marcus Nispel's revision of the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic Conan the Barbarian 3D has been unveiled! Most images are hard to make out, but could this be our first glance of Rose McGowan as the powerful witch Marique?

Rose McGowan reportedly spent 6 hours of make up to achieve the look of Marique and according to G.I.Joe star Rachel Nichols, Rose is almost unrecognizable.



The image looks similar to a leaked photo that is said to be McGowan.



Not much is known about Rose McGowan's role in the Conan reboot, apart from the fact that she plays a witch who was originally written as a male and she is the daughter of Khalar Zym (Stephen Lang). She reportedly has fight scenes with both Conan (Jason Momoa) and Tamara (Rachel Nichols).

Well if she plays RED SONJA...

She should be RED SONJA in this!

Even tho RACHEL NICHOLS should be SONJA!

What a shame.... still I'm actually warming to this, it'll be twice the movie than that piece of sh1T FOX is bringing out! : p

Cant Wait for this movie!!:P

My choice as Conan would have been Cudmore.

But i hope that Momoa delivers. At least he fits in the role.


Dont really like McGowan but i guess she will do.

Still sad that Lord Zula and Thoth-Amon (my favorite characters) isnt in this movie.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje would have been great Zula.

And
Gary Oldman would have been great Amon.

There's no other recognizable characters and
MOMOA is just wrong!

NISPEL said he was making a movie more according
to the books but there's nothing from the books
HERE...Conan is an ancient Irishman not a NATIVE-
AMERICAN, and where are all the recognizable
supporting characters? CONAN ain't an AMERICAN
INDIAN or CAVEMAN but he sure looks like one here!

And what an awful waste of the actress who should
play RED SONJA, RACHEL NICHOLS!

This movie is a total lame loser all around!

FRAZETTA didn't design a CONAN from the books...
HE NEVER READ THE FRAKKING BOOKS!

Now most of the illustrators have followed suit!
It's ridiculous!

CONAN was a really-tanned ancient IRISHMAN but he
would have had CELTIC/KELTIC facial features
not NATIVE AMERICAN!

DDD@ True yeah but if i remember right Howard descripes his skin color as bronze.

Conan is a Cimmerian (based somewhat loosely on the Celts) a barbarian of the far north. One of his grandfathers however came from a southern tribe.
His skin is frequently characterized as bronzed from constant exposure to the sun.

One good thing about the New Conan Franchise is that Mamoa will know in plenty of time to Bulk up for the next one. He did good for the ultra limited time he had to get ready. Most take way more time since they know in advanced of there role.

I am sure next movie he will be at least 15lb to 25lbs bigger.

DDD@ We've been through this before. You need to reread or read the Hyborian Age. Conan is a descendant of Atlantis. The Celts were distant...distant descendants of Cimmerians and who knows what changes could have taken place in that time as to their look and features. Let me know what an Atlantean looks like. ;-) Conan would look more Atlantean than Irish and I don't know many Irishmen who were described like Howard described Conan.

Add in the fact that Momoa has just as much Irish blood in him as Native American blood( (not talking his Hawaiin side) and he has the look down much more than Arnold ever could have hoped for. I'll say it for the umpteenth time....look at the illustrations inside Howard's book and you will see someone that strongly resembles Momoa looking back at you. He was depicted looking like this:





Where was the outrage of Arnold playing the part? His nationality and features are much further off from the character than Momoa is. Conan is a character in a fictional world. His nationality really doesn't matter as the Hyborian Age is a fictional lineage that is based very loosely off of different nationalities as we know them today. There is nothing in Howard's writings that supports the notion that Conan should look like or even resemble a modern day Irishman.

My comment was directed to DDD and his nationality argument. Based on DDD's argument, Arnold doesn't look like an Irishman. Conan O'Brien looks like an Irishman so someone that looks like him should be cast. ;-) Arnold looks nothing like Howard's Conan other than being large. His hair was terrible, he doesn't have the facial features as described by Howard and couldn't deliver a line longer than a few words. Not obvious to me at all. Arnold was cast simply on his Mr. Universe/Olympia bodybuilding fame and build. Nothing less....nothing more.

Despite the silly fanboy outrage, this film looks ten billion times better than Arnie's Conan and Jason Moma looks far more authentic as a 6'4 fighting barbarian than Arnie with his overly bodybuilders physique and tiny 5' 10 frame!

And WTF about Red Sonja? Who gives a sh*t, she's got nothing to do with Howard's Conan. She's a Marvel Comics character loosely based on a character Howard wrote for an entirely different story and genre, NOT CONAN!

Movie makers should NEVER listen to fanboys, especially those who know nothing about the original source material and literally only want to maintain their childhood memories!

@ DDD, why shouldn't Momoa play Conan.
Cimmerians are 'based' on the Ancient Irish, not modern Irishmen, who knows what the Ancient Irish may have looked like, who cares, hes got black hair, dark skin and will have blue eyes in the movie so there is no problem.
And Paul Telfer looks like a member of boyzone, thank god it isn't him. He looks more Prince of Persia than Conan.

ajax2@ thanks! I wish that too!:) Cudmore would have been perfect! He and Momoa were the two last/final contenders for the role and i just have to wonder why Nispel chose Momoa instead?
Maybe his voice was meaner or acting was better i dont know? Guess we have to wait and see?

DDD@ And southern grandfather would mean little bit darker skin too. First i hated Momoa too but im ready to give him at least chance.

I think i read Nispel saying that Momoa handled a sword with skill and had a magnetic charisma or something.
I think Momoa has the right balance of looks to appeal to women whilst still looking like a dangerous killer at the same time.
I get a feeling that he's probably the right choice, at least i hope he is.
