In the past few years J.K. Rowling has been enhancing the lore of her Wizarding World. In a series of five films written by the author she hopes to expand on the mythos she established in the original seven Harry Potter novels. the most intriguing of these story arcs is the one of a young Professor Dumbledore, who will be portrayed by Jude Law in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actor, who will most likely participate in the films’ SDCC panel, spoke in depth about the character and the controversy surrounding his sexuality. But more surprisingly, Law reveal an unanticipated tidbit regarding the film - Dumbledore and Grindelwald will not share a single scene in the sequel.

I don’t actually have any scenes with Johnny. As I said before, this is only part two of a longer story. I’ve always admired him from afar, but we don’t know each other, and I’ve not yet met him on this. In many ways that suits the relationship as it’s been many years since they’ve seen each other. So there’s complexity in that that’s fun to mine. Again, the past will reveal itself.

In addition, Law also assured critics by implying that Dumbledore's sexuality will be explored in later films.

Jo Rowling revealed some years back that Dumbledore was gay. . .  But as with humans, your sexuality doesn’t necessarily define you; he’s multifaceted. . . What you got to remember this is only the second Fantastic Beasts film in a series and what’s brilliant about Jo’s writing is how she reveals her characters, peels them to the heart over time. You’re just getting to know Albus in this film, and there’s obviously a lot more to come . . . we’re not going to reveal everything all at once.

It is safe to assume that Dumbledore and Grindelwald will be crossing paths later on in the franchise, especially due to their fascinating relationship in Harry Potter lore. Hitting theaters in November, it will be interesting to see how Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald plants these seeds for future installments.

Sexuality explored? So, like, they'll show him docking with some hunky twinks and maybe some leather play?

Ok, sign me up.

Why does his sexuality even have to be a thing? I personally like that its not something that has been mentioned. It doesnt seem like it would help develop his character in the magic world in any way.

I have absolutely no idea why Dumbledore would be attracted to Johnny Depp's Grindelwald. [frick]ing look at this guy...

Johnny Depp isn't even attractive anymore when he looks normal, certainly not when he looks like a platinum-blonde hedgehog.

@MrMartyMarvel - Right? Tbh, this is probably the least believable thing in the entire Potterverse.

In Half Blood Prince, Dumbledore drags Harry away from a date with a beautiful girl...and convinces him to allow a middle aged man to "collect" him.
