HARRY POTTER Star Emma Watson On Why She Considered Leaving The Franchise In 2007

The Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Special is now airing on HBO Max, and in it, star Emma Watson elaborates on why she briefly considered leaving the franchise and her role as Hermione behind back in 2007.

The Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts 20th Anniversary Special is now available to stream on HBO Max, and should be a must-watch for any fan of the Wizarding World.

The reunion is a joyful celebration of all things Harry Potter, but also gives the main cast members a chance to look back at their time playing these characters, growing up alongside them on and off-screen.

Back in 2007 around the time of Order of the Phoenix's release, reports did the rounds that Emma Watson was thinking about parting ways with the franchise and leaving the role of Hermione Grainger behind. We were never sure how close the actress actually came to calling it a day, but it sounds like she definitely gave it some serious consideration.

"I did find a diary entry that was kind of like… I could see that at times I was lonely," Watson recalls while discussing her potential departure with co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. "The fame thing had finally hit home in a big way.[Order of the Phoenix] was when things started getting spicy for all of us. I think I was scared. I don't know if you ever felt like it got to a tipping point where you were like, 'This is kind of forever now.'"

"We never talked about it on the film because we were all just kids," Radcliffe adds. "As a 14-year-old boy, I was never gonna turn around to another 14-year-old and be like, 'Hey, how are you doing? Is everything okay?'"

Fortunately, Watson decided to stick it out, and in the end, nobody had to talk her into it. "The fans genuinely wanted me to succeed and all genuinely have each other's backs," she says. "How great is that?"

Emma Watson for Felicia Hardy (Black Cat).

@SonOfAGif - Wow, sounds interesting.

But my favorite pick for Black Cat is still Aubrey Plaza.

@UXASIS - while I think Plaza could be an interesting Black Cat, I can't see her and Holland having any chemistry together.

@UXASIS - maybe spider-woman but i don't see her playing the sexy cat burglar role

@SonOfAGif - while I believe she has the talent to make a swing at the sassy side of Black Kat, id always feel a bit off with Emma Watson showing her dark side. She is too pure lol

I'd go for someone like Peyton List, or even Emma Roberts I could see showing a darker side.

@SonOfAGif - I'd say Chloe Grace-Moretz. She'd do pretty well.

@kazuma - I've only seen her in Legion, but she definitely has an interesting look, and she seems weird in a cute way, from the behind-the-scenes I've seen with her.

OT: I started Cobra Kai season 4 last night, and episode 2 introduced Kenny, played by Dallas Dupree Young, and the second this kid was on screen I KNEW this was my Miles Morales.

Dallas stole the show just with his charismatic and heart felt opening, showing his talents for dancing and acting silly, then showing some range with drama when he got bullied. He showed me everything I want from Miles in like 2 minutes.

If Marvel snatch him up now he would be perfect age to be the young Miles to Tom Hollands college aged mentor Spiderman by the time filming begins in a few years.

I normally don't [frick] around with fan casting bullshit, but Dallas IS Miles to me already lol

I can’t imagine three kids handling absurd fame better than these three did at their age

Probably because it was terrible and JK Rowling is even worse.

Why does black cat have to be played by a female ? Daniel Radcliffe would be a much better choice
