New FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD Image Sees Dumbeldore Teach A Young Newt Scamander

It's been established that Newt was a former student of Dumbeldore's, but a brand-new photo from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald provides a look at their time together as student and teacher.

While we already have a trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, a lot about the film remains under wraps. But as the Harry Potter prequel continues to approach its release date, we can expect more to be revealed.

Just today, we’ve seen Entertainment Weekly share a new photo from the movie. This image features a young Newt Scamander during his time as a student at Hogwarts and Dumbeldore (Jude Law), who is teaching the young wizard.

There are no details on the scene being showcased in the photo below, but with the film clearly set to have flashbacks, it’s possible we’ll get a look at the events that got Newt (Eddie Redmayne) expelled from the magical school.


At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is set to hit theaters on November 16th, 2018.

Why is Dumbledore wearing normal people clothes? Why isn't he wearing robes?

@soup3161 - that's the one thing I don't like.

I don't mind that he isn't wearing robes, but the suit itself is just too plain for Dumbldore. If they just made it more "wizardry" or even some strange patterns.

The first one was one of the best Pokemon movies we've had in a while. I hope this one will be good too. Can't wait to see Professor Dumbledore give young trainer Newt his first Pokedex. Maybe we'll get to see an Articuno this time. We got to see Zapdos in the first one.

Huge Potter fan, & I liked the first Beasts film & this next one looks great. My only question is, when did the Wizarding community start wearing crazy outfits? because in the last film and in the pictures of Law as Dumbledore they are wearing pretty close to what everyone wore in those days. I know they are trying for a slightly older audience & are going slightly darker with this series, but come on lets have a little fun & see at least Dumbledore in some colour.

@ExpertlyMediocr - You know what, you're totally right. I did read that, but it has been years since i read the books. Thanks for reminding me, makes totally sense. I like Law's suits, I just wish he had a little colour thrown in instead of just greys is all.

Why SHOULD he be wearing robes? Have YOU worn the exact same type of clothes for 70 years? People are allowed to change their style. Especially when they becomes eccentric headmasters and can wear whatever they want to be comfortable

Why is Dumbledore in the defense against the dark arts class? When he taught transfiguration. Also it looks like they're recreating the bogart scene from the third film.
