10. The Batman Continues Shooting Despite UK Lockdown

With COVID-19 cases on the rise, England has been forced to go into another lockdown. Non-essential businesses have closed, so where does that leave big budget productions like The Batman?

Well, it's been confirmed that film and television productions can continue, so there's no reason for Matt Reeves' DC Comics adaptation to suffer any further delays (a month of not shooting definitely would have hurt the movie as it's already been forced to halt work a number of times).

9. More Big Release Date Delays

This wasn't surprising, but it was definitely disappointing!

As expected, the Disney-owned 20th Century announced earlier this week that both Free Guy and Murder on the Orient Express have both been removed from the studio's release schedule.

The former was set to arrive on December 11th, while the latter had been pencilled in on December 28th. Free Guy would be a good fit for a PVOD release, especially as it's an original concept, but with Ryan Reynolds in the lead role, it's not hard to see why the decision has been made to delay it. Now, we're just waiting for Warner Bros. to make Wonder Woman 1984's delay official.

8. Loki's Getting A Second Season

A number of sources have previously claimed Loki will run for two years on the streaming service, but it was seemingly confirmed this week that production on a second season will begin in January 2022. This lines up with comments from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg when he mentioned that Tom Hiddleston was anticipating shooting ten to twelve episodes in total.

Not much is known about the plot of Loki, though time-travel is expected to factor into the story (with the Time Variance Authority hot on the God of Mischief's trail). Whether that will set the stage for Thor: Love and Thunder - and Kang the Conqueror's role in Ant-Man 3 - remains to be seen.

7. No, Zack Snyder's Justice League Hasn't Been Cancelled

Believe it or not, there were rumblings on social media earlier this week that HBO Max may have scrapped plans to release Zack Snyder's Justice League. Those claims first surfaced when fans noticed that the DC FanDome trailer had been removed from YouTube and sites like Twitter.

Well, The Hollywood Reporter's Aaron Couch soon set the record straight, revealing: "HBO Max has removed August's trailer for Zack Snyder's Justice League over music rights issues, but it will likely go back up on YouTube once the issue is resolved."

So, yes, this version of Justice League is happening, and you can find the proof of that here.

6. Eternals Promo Art Leaks Online

Eternals was supposed to be released this Friday, but f***ing COVID-19 pushed the movie's debut back to next February before it was ultimately moved right down the calendar to next November.

This week, we were treated to some promo art offering a new look at the assembled heroes, not to mention a closer look at Richard Madden's Ikaris. These costumes are seriously cool, and should look amazing in live-action...who knows when we'll see them in that form at this rate, though.

5. A Possible First Look At Sam Wilson's Captain America Costume

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is another Marvel Studios project hit by pandemic-related delays, and despite originally being pencilled in for an August debut on Disney+, it's now undated.

Chances are we'll see it in early 2021, of course, but it all depends whether it has to be released after Black Widow! Regardless, a leaked toy prototype appears to have revealed a first, somewhat basic look at the Captain America costume Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson will eventually don in the MCU.

It's pretty cool, and you can see what you make of it here.

4. Tenet's Blu-ray Release Date Revealed

Well, Warner Bros. gave it a good try, but seem to have finally accepted that there's no point keeping Tenet in theaters much longer. With a worldwide box office haul of around $350 million, Christopher Nolan's latest movie is a long way from turning a profit, but may recoup costs on Blu-ray.

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. confirmed that Tenet will arrive on 4K, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on December 15, and that means we'll be able to enjoy it from home over the holiday period.

3. Spider-Man: Miles Morales Reviews Swing Online

The first reviews for Spider-Man: Miles Morales swung online this past Friday, and while it's basically very good-looking DLC, the response has still been overwhelmingly positive from critics.

One review said, "[Spider-Man: Miles Morales] is a brilliant follow-up to a fantastic PlayStation-exclusive franchise that will likely tempt over many gamers on the fence to buy the PS5." That's a big win for Sony ahead of the console's launch, though the game's 11-hour playtime is a disappointment, especially when that might be shorter than "The City That Never Sleeps."

2. Boba Fett TV Series May Start Shooting Imminently

Well, this definitely came as a surprise.

Hours after the news broke that actress Sophie Thatcher had been added to the cast of The Mandalorian, it was revealed the show may not be shooting as soon as next week as first expected. Instead, a Boba Fett miniseries is said to be in the works, and it could be shot before that third season!

Details are few and far between right now, but this is exciting news after The Mandaloria's premiere revealed that the bounty hunter is alive and well, and more details can be found here

1. Johnny Depp Leaves The Fantastic Beasts Franchise

L-R-Peli-Motto-Amy-Sedaris-the-Mandalorian-Pedro-Pascal-and-The-Child-in-Lucasfilm-s-THE-MANDALORIAN

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Johnny Depp had lost his libel case against The Sun newspaper which saw him fighting their claim that he's a "wife-beater" (which was made in reference to his relationship with ex-wife Amber Heard). During the course of that court case, a lot of dirty laundry was aired in public, so this news definitely didn't come as a major surprise.

Yes, Depp is indeed leaving the Fantastic Beasts franchise but, honestly, it sounds like he was basically fired. "I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request."

Fantastic Beasts 3 has now been delayed to 2022, and you can find Depp's full statement right here.

The Johnny Depp news should've been #7 at best, a film series not based on a comic book that no one cares about anymore by an author who everyone hates now.

Looking back at news from 1, 5 and 10 years is kinda interesting, but this is really stretching things

"...As expected, the Disney-owned 20th Century announced earlier this week that both Free Guy and Murder on the Orient Express have both been removed from the studio's release schedule."

"Murder on the Orient Express" was released in 2017. I guess the writer is actually referring to "Death on the Nile"?
