Jollem likes Transformers. Thinks First Planet of the Apes was better than the clearly superior sequel. Thinks 22 Jump Street was bad. Terrible taste confirmed.

Marvel is really doing Sony a favor. This is a great example why.

Sony and Fox CBM are usually around 30%-40% more expensive than Marvel's (marketing included in the overall investment).

If they could reduced their investment costs, their CBM would be as profitable.

Both DOFP and TAMS2 costed at least $400M to produce and market, whereas CATWS and GOTG were around $220-$260M to make and market.

@Sophisticated

tick, tick, tick. It's growing more and more inefficient, and almost half the people who comment are trolls (mostly because the more persistent users here want to be hateful and have their 'earth-shattering' thoughts heard)

That's cause they spent a quater of a BILLON DOLLARS on production budget alone! Probably 100+ M on advertisement made about 700M so no wonder they are partnering with Marvel.

@Jazzy4 I guess that's where the X-men spinoffs and F4 movies come in
(profit on tighter budgets to finance future, more costly installments).
FOX should definitely consider hiring guys like Alex Garland and Duncan Jones, if that's the case.

LOL was this posted just to bash TASM2 yet again?
Sony should drop a directors cut and show us what Marc Webb wanted to release instead of the "Amy Pascal edit".

I'm sure it'd be a whole lot better, look at Fox's Daredevil theatrical cut, that was crap. Directors cut awesome.
I'd also like to see the directors cut of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", I'm sure Gavin Hood had an awesome film in the works but studio executives took over the final edit :(

Whilst on directors cuts, I wanna see the extended Incredible Hulk movie that Ed Norton keeps going on about.

@fluffy - Please change the word "less" in the title to "Least".

@LubedUp - That's actually a pretty cool poster.

Also, I kinda figured X-Men would be a lot further up on that list. That movies was UNCANNY.

ROFl..love being right all along..

Production Budget Profit
GOTG 170m 204m 1.20 profit per dollar spent on production budget
CAP2 170m 166m .98 profit per dollar spent on production
DOFP 200m 77m .38 profit per dollar spent on production
ASM2 225m 70m .31 profit per dollar spent on produciton

REMEMBER, Sony documents CLEARLY set studio expectations at .50c of profit PER dollar spent on production. Marvel is KILLING THEM. And pretty much confirms that DoFP underproduced. I think we argued this for about 5 months here.
