With the fifth installment in the Scream franchise set to slice its way into theaters early next year, Paramount has debuted three new posters spotlighting the returning characters who've managed to survive Ghostface's bloody rampage from day one: Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Dewey Riley.

Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are all set to reprise their respective roles, and there's a lot of speculation that this latest incarnation of the masked murderer will turn out to be one of them. Could Sidney's friends really betray her after everything they've been through together? Is it possible Sid herself finally snaps and dons the visage that's plagued her for most of her life?

It may seem far-fetched, but as the tagline makes clear, "it's always someone you know."

Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past. Neve Campbell (“Sidney Prescott”), Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) and David Arquette (“Dewey Riley”) return to their iconic roles in Scream alongside Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.

Paramount Pictures teamed with Spyglass Media to co-produce and distribute Scream, which has Ready or Not duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett on board to direct. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are co-writing the screenplay. Producers for the film are Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak, with Kevin Williamson executive producing.

Scream is set for release next January.

@AmazingFILMporg - that’s what I’ve been saying since the last Scream. After all the shit they went through in the previous movies one of them would finally snap and become a killer.

I'm not a major Ghostface fan, but its a great time for some of the OG slashers to be slaying it with audiences on the screen.

I was in a movie last evening and the trailer came on and the theater burst into laughter.

This is beyond lame.

If the studio is lame and goes for the sh*t route one of the three original characters will die in the opening, one will die in the end and one will be revealed to be the killer (probably Sidney)

My theory is that Jack Quaids character is Ghostface or atleast one of them and he'll be revealed as the son of Stu Macher and Sherriff Judy Hicks. I think sometime during the events of the first film probably the night of the massacre at Stu's house him and Judy had a fling. Afterward she found out she was pregnant and not wanting the social stigma of having to raise a seriel killers child in Woodsboror she gave him up for adoption and now he's back for revenge on his mom and the town he felt abandoned him. My evidence
- We know from the last film Judy went to the same highschool at the same time as Stu.
-  In the first film Stu seems pretty promiscuous. We know he was dating Casey and Tatum around the same time, he was shown flirting with girls at the party and he "Always had a thing" for Sidney.
- In the trailer Ghostface is shown targeting Judy and her son Wes ( Dylan Minnette). This Ghostface also seems straight brutal like he got alot of rage and his focus seems to be on the town of Woodsboror as a whole and not Sidney. We know Stu's house is also going to play a role again in the new film.
-  The irony of Stu's "Sequel" being the new Ghostface and taking over his fathers legacy is also a great way to tie everything back to the original scream. Also Jack Quaid just looks alot like Mathew Lillard to me (tall, lanky and kinda goofy).

The killer in this one is not after Sidney, the killer is getting revenge for her by going after the relatives of the previous killers.
