Zack Snyder's ARMY OF THE DEAD Rewritten To Remove Controversial Zombie Rape Scenes
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder is returning to his horror roots with Army of the Dead, but a new report confirms that his version of the movie will ditch some shocking elements.
Zack Snyder is making his return to the world of horror with a Dawn of the Dead sequel/spinoff titled Army of the Dead, but those of you with a good memory might remember that another version of that movie was in development around a decade ago with Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. at the helm.
At the time, he shed some light on plans for the movie and explained that it would feature "the male zombies [raping] human females. Yes. And they have human hybrid zombie offsprings. It’s a new take on the zombie genre, which is crazy."
That would have been controversial a decade ago, but pretty much unacceptable today and not something anyone would have really wanted to see. It's good, then, that The Playlist has now revealed that the current Army of the Dead script that Snyder is using for his Netflix movie has been "completely redone" and won't incorporate any of these disgusting elements.
Instead, it's thought that this will essentially be a heist movie. Snyder recently said, "There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one. I thought this was a good palate cleanser to really dig in with both hands and make something fun and epic and crazy and bonkers in the best possible way."
It's going to be a lot of fun seeing what the director delivers and we'll hopefully find out more soon.
