While watching the extras on my new "Iron Man 2" DVD, it showed "Captain America" #1 in a box labeled property of Howard Stark. Once opened it shows you features of everything inside and it happened to show the Captain America comic. I don't remember anyone writing about it before, so I felt the need to tell you all. If you haven't watched the extras I highly recommend you to do so. It's got some interesting stuff in there.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with "Captain America" #1 cover.

You can almost see Bucky in the bottom right hand corner.

You can see the title at the top.

The only thing that doesn't make sense in this Easter egg is Capt. America is part of the Marvel Universe. Why is there a comic of him in the movie? Wouldn't it make more sense if there was no such thing as Marvel in all their movies?
They're living in it. It's not like "Heroes" where the comic predicts the future. It's a bit of a silly Easter egg.

I don't want to see any bashing of the movie in the comments section. I loved it.

So...Cap had his own comic series in the Marvel movie universe? O.o

Yeah this has been posted a looong time ago. And it basically just shows that it's a Captain America comic. You don't see it say Marvel. Maybe Howard Stark or someone made comics of Captain America's adventures in that universe.

i enjoyed the film its good, but not great.

the action scenes are top notch, but i think i expected to much from it.

how awesome the first one was i wanted the second to deliver the same.

at least we got to see thors hammer, war machine & black widow.

bring on iron man 3.

as for the comic, maybe they use as a morale booster or propaganda.

Look at it this way... Captain America was a motivator. A patriotic celebrity used to inspire the people of the era. Of COURSE they would have had comic books about him. And film serials. And posters, radios shows, etc...

And most likely, it's this public image they created for a larger than life character, that ends up being how they cover up his existence later on.

(Superheroes don't seem to be public knowledge, and SHIELD seems pretty intent on keeping them under-wraps in the first Iron Man.)

Because the comic does not mention Marvel anywhere.

It actually fits right in to the USO way they are going with Cap in the movie.

They used very similar advertising of WWII in real life to make people feel good about the war. I loved the comic. I also am very happy they are making Cap more like a USO make the troops feel better thing. Then he go on his own as a avenger.

It's just an easter egg. It has no relevance to the story.
Seriously you guys, stop looking so deep into everything. You take the fun out of easter eggs.

@deadpool
the article is about the easter egg, not what your thoughts on the movie

BTW, Marvel didn't become Marvel until 1961.

So that's not technically a "Marvel" comic, it's a "Timely" comic. :p

I was a little let down by Iron Man 2, too much Avenger stuff.

Even in the comics today.. old series from that time have been retconned and considered to be propaganda comics.

This is actually consistent with the comics. Steve Rogers drew Captain America comics in the Marvel Universe in the 90's. I think they even credited him as the artist in a few issues as a gimmick.

@Stoopudr...I was just going to bring that up. Comics in comic continuity has a pretty long history. Not only did Steve Rogers land a job with Marvel doing the art on Captain America, I believe that most heroes in the Marvel Universe have been shown to have comics in the Marvel Universe. The Fantastic Four used to donate all the profits from their series to charity...stuff like that.
Goes back even further with DC. Barry Allen was reading an Earth 2 Flash comic right before meeting the Jay Garrick Flash in the classic "Flash of two Earths" story.

Also, I think in Hulk 300 (or somewhere around there) the Hulk smashes a news stand in NY which you can see is selling "Hulk" comics. This is nothing new and just an Easter egg for fun.

nice...in the Blu Ray S.H.I.E.L.D Data Vault you get to read the comic, and you see a picture of the cosmos(maybe Thor) and a picture of the Arctic ice(Captain America anybody?!), plus in Howard Stark's note book you see a drawing of an early designed gamma chair from The Incredible Hulk and blueprints! and that drawing of a cube....Cosmic Cube! as you can see i am very excited. lol

maybe it was in the box of stuff Howard Stark owned cause since there was no CNN or crap like that, maybe the comic is a sort of way to show the missions Cap had done or something.
