Major Plot Point of Iron Man 2 Revealed

Major Plot Point of Iron Man 2 Revealed

This is somewhat old news, but confirmation nonetheless, of the main villain in Iron Man II... Booze!

A couple months before shooting began on Iron Man 2, J. Michael Riva, the movies set designer, had his first crack at the script. As there were several plot points for him to work on, the first plot point outlined "Tony, in the Iron Man armor, pukes in a toilet."

This confirms what a lot of fans were calling for originally when they heard confirmation of the sure success that will be Iron Man 2. Tony will be fighting the urge to consistently drink, turning him into an alcoholic. This goes hand in hand with what happened to Tony Stark in the comics. I'm glad that the producers are staying true to the source material and I hope they can come up with a positive outcome for the millions of fans that already look up to Mr. Tony Stark.

hahaha sweet now if we can just get him to instale a razor blade on his suit, then he can cut straight lines on bad guys' backs!

I KNEW IT!!! Screw Crimson Dynamo... ALCOHOL - Iron Man's WORST enemy! I can see the promotions now... everyone over the age of 21 gets one of those little 'shooter' bottles of Jack Daniels they give away on long airplane trips, FREE with every movie ticket purchased! They're gonna' sell like HOTCAKES people! I'm gonna' buy five as soon as they come available! (LOL)

Blah blah. Waaaayyyyy too early. See, that's why I hate these early 'leaks'. For all we know Tony has the flu. Thaaaaat's right fanboys, nasty little flu virus. That's the villain for Iron Man 2. Write it up. I want to see it on one of your 'i've got way too much time on my hands.com fansites'.

I kid all. I really can't wait. And I truly am glad to see them staying true to source material.

lol, the villain is Pepper Potts, she decides she'll cook a really special meal but doesn't realize that the food expired 2 months ago, which gives Tony a serious case of the runs (yep we spend two hours seeing him puking and sitting on the toilet).

I hope Tony Stark is a raving alcoholic; that was my only wish after the first movie. Bring on the scotch!

That is what i'm talking about...staying faithful. Downy Jr. was an alcoholic, he been in the same spot light as TONY STARK thats why he is a PERFECT IRON MAN.

I hope they add the part where he so DRUNK that he accidently jumps off his mansion into the seaside lol...I remember that....Tony Stark is possibly one of the most entertaining chracters with PERSONALITY in the marvel comics. Iron man fugitive? < Just amazing.

I'm all for the "Demon in a Bottle" done in a movie. Always one of Iron Man's finest arcs. If my "I-have-way-too-much-time-on-my-hands.com fansite" were devoted to Iron Man, I probably would write it up. But, since I'm an ever larger dork than that, mine's devoted to Green Lantern and the Corps. WOOT!

Seriously though. Another great Marvel movie I can't wait for. I have YET! to be totally let down in a Marvel movie that I've seen (I haven't seen Elektra, thank GOD!) there were some piss poor renditions, but just enough for me to say "Meh, I will survive."

I know this is going to be another blockbuster and it will keep the franchise and all other Marvel or comic book movies in general, moving along quite nicely. They really are the "Westerns" of the era.

I'd have to say that this is far from confirmation that we are going to see an alcoholic Tony. Could be something different or it could be a red herring.

This is REALLY old news...Favreau said that Tony's alcoholism was going to be saved for this movie when he was asked about it before the first one even came out.

I guess it is a good or justified reason (for no comic readers) to get Rhoads in the War Machien suit. Unless they stick with the comics and put Rhoads in IM suit first.

I just hope they keep it short and don't use up too much of the movie dealing with it.

Oh and 2.5 hours running time is cool for me, lol.

Uh, Ion - have you seen 'Punisher: War Zone' yet? It's a TOTAL POS! And let's not forget the 'Fantastic Four' fiascos and 'Ghost Rider' - WEAK!!! I'll admit Marvel is doing a HELLUVA' lot better than DC in exploiting their characters, but some of them need a bit (or a LOT) more work in order to succesfully trasition from comic book to big screen...

All of the movies produced by Marvel as of late have been great. So far, I thought the only ones Marvel has done without another studio financing it were The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man. They had gone on a limb and convinced some investors to back them. They have/had no choice but to make them great or else go belly-up. Fantastic Four and Ghost Rider were Fox productions, and Punisher: War Zone was Lionsgate. Ghost Rider wasn't bad, given the source material they had to work from. The first FF was done well, and was more of a family targeted film. The Punisher, well, I don't even know what to say about the second Punisher other than they should have unassed the money for Thomas Jane.

This is NOT a major plot point. He throws up! That's a major plot point? There could be a hundred different reasons he throws up. Yes Iron man has stayed close to the source material but tony throwing up really isn't big story. Well not big enough to report on. What's next? He pulls out a straw and hand held mirror & he's got a drug problem!? Plus Favreau already said The story will deal with Stark's alcoholism, which was set aside from the first film for the sequel, but Favreau said it will not be "the Leaving Las Vegas version".

ALTROCKFAN-

I agree, given Ghost Rider's source material i thought it was pretty good. That being said, i'm not saying i thought it was a pretty good movie, i'm just saying i honestly can't see how they could've made it better.

Actually, i wish they would've made the skull bigger, is it just me or did the flaming skull look super tiny?

@ Metalhead82

I agree "MARVEL" wont let us down. BUT FOX STUDIOS WILL.
If you want Iron Man to be a great movie....tell Fox to stay out of their production..and stop RUSHING our directors....Xmen 3 could of been better if they did RUSH the director. He had to make the movie within 6 months.

Fox has nothing to do with Iron Man or any other new property that comes out from here on out. Marvel Studios is a studio unto itself that distributes through Paramount.

I agree that Marvel is doing a great job but I am an avid X-Men fan and I can't help but nit pick all the little things; especially in X-3. The way they did Phoenix was all wrong. It irritated me to no end. . .
