JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Live-Action Series From J.J. Abrams In The Works For HBO Max

We heard rumblings about this back in January, but it's now been officially announced that a live-action series based on characters from the Justice League Dark universe is in development for HBO Max...

Fans wondered if the recent partnership between J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot and WarnerMedia would result in any DC Comics projects, and it looks like we finally have our answer.

We heard about tentative plans for movie and TV projects based around the mystical heroes and villains of Justice League Dark back in January, and now the trades have confirmed that the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker director and his wife and Bad Robot partner, Katie McGrath, will head-up a JLD series for WarnerMedia's upcoming HBO Max streaming service.

We're not sure which characters will get the spotlight, but there was talk of a Zatanna solo movie a little over a year ago, so she's a decent possibility. We can probably also expect the likes of John Constantine, Dead Man, Etrigan and Swamp Thing to be strong contenders.

Bad Robot will also produce a 10-episode The Shining spinoff called Overlook, which will explore the untold, terrifying stories of the most famous haunted hotel in American fiction, and original drama Duster, which revolves around the life of a gutsy getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate who goes from awful to wildly, stupidly, dangerously awful.

What do you guys make of this news? Which characters do you hope to see the JLD series focus on? Let us know in the usual place.

@mastakilla39 - This is from the same production company as Westworld. We won't know the quality until there's a show-runner, but it'll have the resources behind it

@WakandanQueen - For sure, also add Zatanna to the line up or Madame Xanadu, although probably a different version than the Swamp Thing version

@dracula - @emeraldtaurus -

We need a complete reboot for a new series at this point.
There's no reason to go backwards.

Any chance of Matt Ryan being in this. Love him on Legends Of Tomorrow, but if he can be on a justice league dark show that would be even better, plus after this season, kind of hoping Legends gets back to more classic type of time travel adventures, considering we have had 2 seasons of magic
