For all of the DCEU's shortcomings, one thing they've done consistently well is casting. From large names to left-of-field choices, the Warner Bros franchise has found some very fitting talent to bring their characters to life and while the material they've received has not always done them justice, with the right characterization the vast majority of them could do wonders.

Ezra Miller's casting in the role of Barry Allen / The Flash has proved a fine example of this. While he fared better than most in 2017's Justice League, proving to be a standout for audiences, many were frustrated at the writing the We Need to Talk About Kevin actor was given and long to see him with better material.

Miller wasn't always liked for the part, however, his announcement meeting with mixed reactions. Some rejected him out of loyalty to the television version of the character, some believed he physically wasn't up to the task and some were simply unfamiliar with his work. On the social media site Vero, a fan asked whether director Zack Snyder always knew that Ezra was his Flash.

VERO: Zack Snyder knew Ezra Miller was his Flash after he saw him in 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' from r/DC_Cinematic

Released in 2012, Perks of Being A Wallflower is a coming of age movie based on a novel by Stephen Chbosky which saw Miller win Best Supporting Actor at the Boston Society of Film Critics Awards and the Spotlight Award at the Hollywood Film Festival as well as being nominated at the Detroit and Phoenix Film Critics Societies.

Miller is set to reprise the role of DC's Scarlet Speedster in the Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley directed The Flash, which is said to be gearing up for production soon.

What do you think? When were you sold on Ezra Miller's casting? Or are you still not convinced? Have you seen Perks of Being A Wallflower? Leave your thoughts below.

We need more articles with nebulous speculation, innuendo and rose-colored memories of the past from Zack Snyder. Could you provide this for us? Thanks!

Some of the casting in the DCEU has been spot on...Henry Cavill, Viola Davis and Margot Robbie, and Laurence Fishburne. But I think a slight majority has been off. Of the main Justice League members, only Cavill fits the role perfectly.

@Forthas - I would say - Mamoa, Eisenberg, Leto, and Miller, have been the only ones that felt off to varying degrees. Everyone else was pretty much okay.

@FunkyDormammu - Amy Adams has poor chemistry with Cavill. She is clearly older than him. Fantastic actress but not for this role.

Cara Delevingne should be Black Canary
Mark Strong should be Lex Luthor
Jason Momoa should be Lobo

Everyone else is OK but not the strongest actors. Even though she more or less looks the part, Gal Gadot's heavy accent and subpar acting makes her a bad casting.
