WARNER BROS. JOB VACANCY: A Director for the Justice League.

WARNER BROS. JOB VACANCY: A Director for the Justice League.

As Disney assigns a director to Star Wars after only a few months, we have got ask the big question - What is taking Warner Bros. so long to find a director for Justice League?

J.J. Abrams has finally been confirmed as the Director of Disney's new Star Wars film! Do you remember when they announced that they were going to make another Star Wars film? Well you should, because it was only a few months ago. Star Wars fans everywhere wiped away that cold sweat that had been bothering them for a few months over the uncertainty of who will helm their beloved universe. The quickness of Disney to assign a director must of restored a lot of faith into a lot of the skeptical fans who believed that Disney would run the franchise to the ground. But they J.J. Adams, come on! What a catch that is! I bet everyone who works at Disney were just going around high-fiving each other after the news broke.

But, this is not what my article is about. After seeing how eager Disney were to appoint a director of what is undoubtedly going to be their biggest franchise in a very long time (or possibly ever). I can't help but feel that they have put a lot of effort into finding a director, there seems to be a lot of passion and excitement for the project. This sadly, is what Warner Bros. lack.
The slowness of Warner Bros is becoming a bit of a worry. With the 2015 release date drawing closer and closer with still no word about the director, cast or even a coffee boy!. All they have is a some what inexperienced writer (Will Beal - Gangster Squad). With this in mind I start to think - has the success of the Avengers scared Warner Bros. into making a film that they can't actually handle yet?

Personally for me I feel like the fact that Warner Bros. are being so quiet about the film is really starting to put doubts in my mind and it will inevitably put more pressure on whoever is assigned director to deliver a truly great film.
I just hope that Man Of Steel will salvage my excitement for Justice League because at the moment I feel like Warner are becoming their own worst enemies by slowly letting the hype burn out.
As each day passes with no sign of Warner assigning a director, I feel like that 2015 release date is getting further and further away.

But none the less, I'm sure Man of Steel will be a great film and HOPEFULLY will reference the Justice League in someway so that the hype can start to regenerate.

I've read a few people's articles about who they would like to see in the Justice League, so here is my list:

Director:
- Ben Affleck (Argo)
- Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive)
- Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass)
- Sam Mendes (Skyfall)

Batman:
- Ryan Gosling (Drive)

Superman:
- Henry Cavill (Man of Steel)

Wonder Woman:
- Olivia Wilde (TRON: Legacy)

Flash:
- Adam Brody (The OC)
- Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother)

Green Lantern:
-Ryan Reynolds

Hey good article, but terrible cast and director choices dude. JL is not coming out in 2015. I know it.

I personally don't have much faith in the justice league movie at the moment. For one it's being written by will beall who has only written gangster squad which was poor IMO. I think they need to get a competent writer and director who are both good at ensemble casts. If the avengers was a huge risk even with 5 movies worth of build up, imagine how much of a clusterf*ck the JL will be. I'm not saying they should copy marvel and do build up movies, I'm saying that this has much more of a risk of failing badly than the avengers did.

Good article. Ive got alot of hope for this project. They better push the release date back, or we are getting a very rushed and probably shitty Justice League movie. And I know your fancast was based more on other peoples choices, but please god no Ryan Gosling for Batman. He's too young and frat boyish, and the way he talks about comic book movies rubs me the wrong way. There are plenty of actors better suited for the role that would get down on their knees and beg to play the character.

i said this in another article until filming begins i don't believe for one second that a justice league movie is coming out in 2015.maybe warner bros is waiting to see how man of steel performs before committing to a justice league movie.

it could be something to do with the other movies due for release in 2015.

-the avengers 2
-star wars episode 7
-pirates of the caribbean 5
-the adventures of tin tin prisoner of the sun
-the hunger games mockingjay part 2
-ant-man
-avatar 2
-fantastic four reboot
-pixar movie(toy story 4 rumor)

there is a few possible billion dollar movies in 2015.

@marvel72 Yeah summer 2015 is very crowded already and it's full if heavy hitters. The Avengers 2 is kicking it all off may 1, so releasing it close to that would be suicide. Star Wars episode 7 will probably get the early June slot, then we've got the new pirates of the Caribbean 5 on July 10. I can't see where the JL will be released that summer, you could say August but that's when everyone goes on holiday. unless they release it around Christmas, but avatar 2 is coming out then so releasing it there would be the biggest suicide of them all. 2016 would be a much better time to release it.

Warner Bros. is clearly waiting for the release of MOS to make any major decisions and announcements on JL.

A JL film relies solely on the success of MOS. If that doesn't succeed then a JL film just can't happen unless they go the JL:Mortal route again and nobody wants that to happen.

I also believe that they want to see how Zack Snyder does. He has proven to be a draw when it comes to money and can also handle a major team up film (Watchmen). If MOS is successful he will be the director for JL unless he turns it down which I doubt he will since he just loves superheroes and it'll be a huge paycheck and will keep him constantly working for the next decade.

Will JL come out in 2015? I think they will still aim for it but it will get pushed back just like MOS did. If MOS needed so much time to get everything perfect and with all the CGI that is going to go in it, JL will come out in 2016 the EARLIEST.

If this rumor is true and a JL film IS on WB's horizon then we will hear about it at this summer's Comic Con which I believe is a month or so after MOS's release.

I'll read this later... but to answer the question posed in the teaser: maybe there's no director because the script sucks? Althought, I believe The Wachowskis are secretly signed. Cloud Atlas was their test of VFX, multiple threads, multiple genres, and dozens of characters.

Hows does SW7 get announced after JL and then ends up getting a directer before JL. More proof this movie isn't coming out 2015. Its was simply a rumor Dc fanboys gobbled up in desperation of a JL movie.
by the way terrible casting.

Its kind of surprising that Warner hasn't hired Zack Snyder for JL. Kind of disappointing too.

wb executives are gonna wait till man of steel to get a sense of which way they would go with the film.

and I second what levitikuz and knight of steel said. the people who worked on the animated series need to get involved some how.

and definitely Zach snyder for director he knows how to adapt other peoples work and balance the grounded and fantasy aspects together well.
