THE MUMMY: Sofia Boutella's Monster Gets The Spotlight In A Foreboding New Featurette

It's Mummy Monday again, which means we have a brand new behind-the-scenes featurette from Universal Pictures' upcoming Tom Cruise-led monster movie The Mummy.

The latest featurette offers up a lot more background information about Sofia Boutella's Princess
Ahmanet, who, in her prime, essentially makes a deal with the devil and in turn, gets damned for the rest of eternity. There's a lot of new footage and concept art too, which is plenty exciting, but the biggest takeaway seems to be that we'll see the princess-turned-undead monster sport at least five different looks throughout the course of the movie. And, based on the trailers & TV spots, we've only seen about three of those so far.

Check out the new clip below:

Plus, here's a new TV spot:

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

The Mummy features:
Director: Alex Kurtzman
Tom Cruise as Nick Morton
Sofia Boutella as Princess Ahmanet/The Mummy
Annabelle Wallis as Jenny Halsey
Jake Johnson as Sgt. Vail
Courtney B. Vance as Colonel Gideon Forster
Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll/Mr. Hyde
Javier Botet as Set
Selva Rasalingam as King Menehptre
Dylan Smith as Lorenzo Montanari
Rez Kempton as Foreman
Chasty Ballesteros as Kira Lee
Marwan Kenzari as Agent of Prodigium
Alaa Saif as Sickle Slave

RancidBane

@jerryblake - looks like it. I still stand by my theory that he is Van Helsing and she wants him on her side.

@RancidBane - Wait what??? please explain ur theory futhur, whos do u think is playing Van? Tom?
RancidBane

@PrinceDwight - correct I think Tom Cruise is Van Helsing. There was a report when he first signed on that claimed he would be the link between all the films. Very similar to Iron man in the MCU. It doesn't make sense for some random normal guy to be the link between the monsters. Him being Van Helsing just makes too much sence. Now I could be very wrong and he ultimately turns into the mummy, but I'm sticking with my Van Helsing theory.

@RancidBane - i swear to god they were eyeing a female to Van Helsing or am i wrong? i assumed Tom would be the claire temple or the Nick fury of these films.

Beautiful and glad to see her in another movie.

@SimplyAz - she's been getting a lot of big time work. Kingsmen, Star Trek, and now Mummy. So she is either really talented and directors are noticing her skill. (The most likely senario) or she has one hell of an agent. (Less likely)

Intrigued for this film, and would probably go to the cinema to see it. But don't have as much time and am a bit Lackadaisical about going to the Cinema nowadays.

Still haven't seen John Wick 2, GoTG2 (Only came out a couple of days ago).

Heck I only saw Logan 2 weeks ago.

Getting very excited for this movie. Almost time to bust out the DVDs and have a Mummy marathon. I wonder if I should get the Brendan Fraser movies too, haven't seen those in a long while.
