Kelly Overton cast as the lead in SyFy's new VAN HELSING series.

The SyFy network recently unveiled new details about it's upcoming horror series Van Helsing. The series takes place in a world dominated by vampires. Kelly Overton will star as Vanessa Van Helsing, a descendant of the infamous monster hunter Abraham Van Helsing. This is not Overton's first encounter with the supernatural. She previously starred in HBO's True Blood as Rikki Naylor, the alpha female of the Shreveport Werewolf Pack. Kelly also appeared as Christie Monterio in Dwight H. Little's 2009 live action film adaptation of the Tekken video game series. Paul Johansson(Atlas Shrugged Part 1) will play Dimitri, the leader of the vampires. Tim Guinee(John Carpenter's Vampires. Blade) will play Ted, a vampire soldier. Christopher Heyerdahl who is most known for playing Marcus, one of the rulers of the Volturi Vampire Coven in the Twilight film series, will play Sam. Jonathan Scarfe will play Axel, who is described as "a career Marine with unwavering devotion and loyalty to both duty and his wards, despite years of isolation and endless vampire attacks". The series is set to begin prodution on February 22 in Vancouver, British Columbia and will air on the SyFy channel in fall of this year. The season will run for 13 episodes.
