The series is a total of 41 issues from 1969 to 1976 with cover prices ranging from 12¢ to 25¢. This series is super cool. This is a very accessible series to complete with #1 being the most expensive in the series with a near mint value of around $100.00 and finishing out the series for $6.00 a piece in near mint shape. Comic fans will love art from legends like Neal Adams, Anderson, Aparo, Grell, Toth, and Kaluta. Issue #1 is the second appearance of the silver age Pahntom Stranger. However Neal Adams redesigns the mystery man in to his more modern look in issue #4.

Appearing out of nowhere the Phantom Stranger faces down the forces of evil to save the innocent. He accomplished his tasks with a variety of strange and mythical powers and vanishes as suddenly and mysteriously as he appeared. The Phantom Stranger stars as the main attraction for the series of supernatural tales but it also features back up stories of Mark Merlin modern sorcerer and Doctor 13 the ghost debunking detective. Deadman also appeared in back up stories.

Issues 15-19 are all giant size. Issue 23 features the 1st appearance of the Spawn of Frankenstein which has become a cult hitamong the series. The Spawn of Frankenstein continued to appear through issue 30. Deadman and Black Orchid trade appearances back and forth till the series comes to an end with 41. This is a heck of a series for anyone that likes horror, mystery, mysticism, or just cool comics.

I've always loved the Phantom Stranger since I first saw him in Saga of the Swamp Thing. Very cool article!
