Arnold Schwarzenegger As An "Older, Bearded" Terminator In Terminator: Genesis

Arnold Schwarzenegger As An "Older, Bearded" Terminator In Terminator: Genesis

According to HitFix's Drew McWeeny, the older Terminator will appear in scenes that take place during the first film.

In the second installment of Ask DrewHitfix's Drew McWeeny is asked about his thoughts on the upcoming Alan Taylor directed, Terminator: Genesis. Apparently, McWeeny was able to get his hands on the script and described one scene in perticular.

Kind of like Back to the Future, the Terminator: Genesis script folds into the first film in the series....There's a scene in the script where literally, we see the scene in the first Terminator where Arnold steps out, the punks threaten him, he rips Bill Paxton's heart out and takes his clothes and wanders off. And as soon as that scene ends, another Arnold Schwarzenegger who's older, and bearded and a very different version of the Terminator, comes walking in from the other side and plays another scene, right at the scene of that first incident.

McWeeny also said that he described the scene after a panel to Bill Paxton, who (as mentioned above) played one of the punks in the original Terminator.

This falls in line with previous reports that suggested the movie would be revisitng scenes from the first two films. Personally, I'm very curious to see how this plays out.

They previously sent out a casting call for an "80s punk" and of course they've already cast Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney as Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, so I assume they won't be using any arcival footage from The Terminator or Terminator 2: Judgment Day. It may be easier to simply re-create old scenes in 2014 as using old footage could cause some legal and technological headaches.

Terminator: Genesis just started filming this past Monday. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long until we get a peak at what the future has instore. Or in this case, the past.

Sounds dope though, I wonder if they'll use old footage or will they use CGI to make Arnie look younger and redo the scene? Meh, I think they'll incorporate the old footage somehow.

Jai Courtney is horrible, but this sounds like a creative approach. Cautious optimism abounds.

After seeing Sabotage...I think Arnold should go back into politics.

I honestly don't think I want to have the first two great films 'mined' for it's most memorable moments, or worse have the new actors CGI'd into them, or even worse Arnie CGI'd to look young...(X-men 3 and Origins...*shudders) so we can make a new Terminator with Arnie.

Just start over from scratch and make an original film.
It's like they're afraid to risk it without dragging out the nostalgia we loved as some sort of backup to a possibly weak idea.

It's like when they remake a TV show or movie into a brand new thing it never was then slap 'Starksy and Hutch' or '21 Jump Street' on the cover and shoehorn in a few bits of memorabilia so we can be tricked into thinking it's something we know as opposed to just giving it a new title and letting it stand on its own.

We should send in questions about Age of Ultron for the next "Ask Drew".

Drew knows a few people at Marvel and is a really reliable source of information.

@Fanmar16 - That pic is NOT from filming. There are no pictures from the set, that picture is from 2010. The Arnold Fans posted it on Twitter and some news sites are running it as the first pic from the set but The Arnold Fans never said it was.

For the love of Arnie and Emilia Clarke, I will keep an open mind about this. But I'd have preferred they just close out the story picking up where Salvation left off; get to the point where Connor sends back Reese and the terminators from 2 and 3 and have the resistance destroy Skynet once and for all, closing the loop. If I were to choose Emilia Clarke for a 2015 blockbuster, I'd have given the lead female role in Star Wars 7. Seems like she'd fit in well. There's something very Star Wars-esque about Daenerys.
