AVATAR: FRONTIERS OF PANDORA - Check Out The Jaw-Dropping First Trailer For Ubisoft's Upcoming Video Game

We've been hearing rumblings about an Avatar video game for a while now, but during the first day of E3, Ubisoft finally shared a first look at Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

The first person, action-adventure game was developed by Massive Entertainment (a Ubisoft studio) in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney. Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, this looks like a visual delight and is currently being lined up for a 2022 release.

"Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open world experience," reads a press release.

"In this new, standalone story, play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push back the formidable RDA forces that threaten it."

This teaser trailer doesn't seem to feature much in the way of gameplay, but it's certainly impressive. It offers "a glimpse of the amazing journey that awaits you in one of the most beautiful but dangerous places of all, brought to life by the latest version of our Snowdrop engine," according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.

@CAPTAINPINKEYE - it's suppose to be all in-engine. so close enough. it's just sad though we got visuals on this before the actual movie sequel.

Either way you know Cameron will bring it. Can't wait to see it in IMAX 3D. Avatar 2009 was the only film I truly enjoyed in that format.

@Jaykay21 - Yeahhhh... This is Ubisoft. They are notorious for running things that look or are said to be in game engine. And when the actual game releases it looks nothing like the original demo. So take their trailers with a grain of salt.

@TanukiTrooper - oh believe me, I remember the whole watchdogs debacle lol.

I'm hopeful with the frostbite engine though, as battlefield is always on point.

I wasn't really expecting anything from Ubisoft last night and I was still disappointed.

@MartyScorsese - they should get to work on Splinter cell ASAP. that plus finally having a date for beyond good and evil 2 will save them.

@MartyScorsese - At least they weren’t Gearbox. Seriously, wtf was that presentation?

@Jaykay21 - haven’t there been “leaks” that they’ve been working on it for years? I got one at waiting for Splinter Cell. By far my favorite video series 🤘🏻

@ImBatman4realz - for splinter cell? no. they've said for a while they haven't. only recently I think they were planning, but just putting him in ghost recon and rainbow 6. which doesn't help.

BGaE2 they've been working OK for ages and has shown an in game demo. Covid and issues in the workplace hasn't helped ubisoft.

Maybe if the new movie manages to get me interested, I might consider playing it. For now I'll just stick to that Disney World ride

@ShimmyShimmyYA - lol! I’m not a big Avatar fan but a high budget Avatar: The Last Airbender game would be amazing

Playing Ghost of Tsushima at the moment and it is flat-out [frick]ing incredible to look at. If this actually plays in-game like the trailer, it will actually look even better, and I didn’t think that was possible.

@Tasmaniac - How are you liking it? My brother got it for me for Christmas and I finished it at the end of January. I thought it was great.

@TexasAvenger - is it true that it’s “one of the hardest games ever” though? Like the Souls/Bloodbourne games?

@Tasmaniac - ghost was incredible! Definitely not one is the hardest games ever though. Not sure where that came from.

@ImBatman4realz - No not even close. I bought Bloodborne for $10 a few years back and it ended up not being for me. I don’t wanna feel frustrated majority of my time with a game lol.
Tasmaniac
Tasmaniac - 6/13/2021, 3:49 PM
@TexasAvenger @BigDriggs @ImBatman4realz - It’s awesome. I’m the worlds biggest Tenchu fan, so having that stealth ability but with a great combat system and astounding visuals is my dream game. Up to about 80 hours now, about 80% of the way through (I’m a completionist, so I’m doing everything). I preordered it and got it launch day, but refused to start it until I’d conquered Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice completely (8 months later. Hey, I’m busy!) Now THAT is an utter bastard of a game (and the one I think you’re confusing Ghost with as it’s from the same guys that did Dark Souls arc). There are 4 or 5 out of the 50 bosses that slaughtered me over 100 times each!!! Ghost is nowhere near that hard. At least on the normal difficulty setting.
BigDriggs
BigDriggs - 6/13/2021, 6:57 PM
@Tasmaniac - yeah I'm not a fan of the souls type games. I can't take that kind of torture lol. I was trying to get everything 100% on ghost but there's so much to do! Game is incredible. You can tell it was made with love and respect.

Not sure how I feel about it being 1st-person, but it looks like it could be a fun time.

Did the writers forget Game Fragger exists? I know it's not the main site here, but it hasn't been updated with yesterday's games, not even an Avatar article. I don't care about co-posting, but don't leave the gaming story out of GF. It's E3 weekend the time for that site to get big attention!

Considering this is Ubisoft, expect a huge graphical downgrade.
