Last week, we got to see new trailers for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and 300: Rise Of An Empire. This week there will be even more. One such trailer of interest, is Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt's upcoming sci-fi actioner, Edge Of Tomorrow, which was formerly titled All You Need Is Kill. Marketing for Warner Bros. next big summer film has finally kicked into gear, as a new Twitter feed, "Embedded UDF." The profile description is: "For the Edge of Tomorrow war feed from Verdun, France."

The story unfolds in a near future in which a hive-like alien race, called Mimics, have hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, shredding great cities to rubble and leaving millions of human casualties in their wake. No army in the world can match the speed, brutality or seeming prescience of the weaponized Mimic fighters or their telepathic commanders. But now the world’s armies have joined forces for a last stand offensive against the alien horde, with no second chances.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped—untrained and ill-equipped—into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an Alpha down with him. But, impossibly, he awakens back at the beginning of the same hellish day, and is forced to fight and die again…and again. Direct physical contact with the alien has thrown him into a time loop—dooming him to live out the same brutal combat over and over.

But with each pass, Cage becomes tougher, smarter, and able to engage the Mimics with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt), who has lain waste to more Mimics than anyone on Earth. As Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated battle becomes an opportunity to find the key to annihilating the alien invaders and saving the Earth.

EDGE OF TOMORROW is being directed by Doug Liman (“The Bourne Identity,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”) from a screenplay written by Dante Harper, Christopher McQuarrie and Joby Harold, based on the novel "All You Need Is Kill" by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. The film stars: Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Jonas Armstrong (BBC’s “Robin Hood”), Tony Way, Kick Gurry, Franz Drameh, and Charlotte Riley. The film will hit theaters June 6, 2014.

So, this week we have the following teaser trailers being released: Edge of Tomorrow, Interstellar, Godzilla, Jupiter Ascending and maybe (but not confirmed), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. On Friday we have The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. Yes, it's going to be an awesome week!

I like the premise so I will check it out, even though I already know that Tom Cruise will save the world again!

I hope the aliens were greatly improved from the last time I saw them.

@ DeathstrokeTerminator, that's how it felt when I saw a test trailer for this earlier this year (back when it was still being called "All You Need Is Kill").

It was more in tune with Elysium

I think this is Emily Blunt's first action flick. She does some flipping and stuff in this.

Right..original title is much better.
Hollywood doesn't want KILL in the movie titles.
I think the Sin City 2 film was retitled to get rid of the word KILL.
Big deal...dummies.

Kind of reminds of the suits from the "book" Starship Troopers and what the movie should have had.

It looks like Hollywood is really desensitizing us to the idea of putting humans into mechanical exoskeletons. I guess production the the real-life Raytheon XO-2 will be fast tracked in the next 5 years.

Halo game mixed with Elysium, that were a copy of Halo visual concepts:(

It's an interesting mix of concepts. And I see that most of you are complaining that it's like Groundhog Day and other films. Well believe it or not, that's how some of Hollywood goes these days. Even Max Landis himself said Chronicle was a mix of Carrie and Akira.

@ ALmight

I know its sci-fi and all that but the point of clunky exo's is that it does the load of work/takes all the damage for you. Elysium was retarded because in it's effort to be gory and grimdark, they negated the whole point of an exoskeleton. The developer of HULC from Lockheed Martin explains that:

"Exoskeletons 'are designed to provide an alternative that . . . basically takes the load off the infrastructure of humans,' he said. Attaching an exoskeleton directly to a person’s skeleton, he explained, would ensure that any weight he carried remained on his body, thus decreasing the device’s usefulness.

Elysium's suit looked cool, but in actuality was useless as hell.

@ philiam

I think somewhere on their site they say that he had skeletal implants to go along with the exo.

Why has there been NO HALO movie yet??? Get the guy who penned the novels to try his hand at writing a script, and get a decent director. At the risk of annoying some people; my wish list of people to direct it would be either Bay, Favreau, Abrams, Del Toro, or Peter Jackson.
