Vulture report that Warner Bros. has offered Brad Pitt the leading role in All You Need is Kill, an adaptation of the manga comic by Hiroshi Sakurazaka which the studio reportedly acquired the rights to for a seven figure sum last spring. Director Doug Liman's Luna has been dropped by Paramount Pictures after co-financier Skydance decided to pull out of the project (rumored to be $100+ million) explaining why this adaptation is now moving ahead.

According to the site, there have been some issues with the tone of the movies final act, although they reveal that a new draft has resolved the problem. While Pitt may still pass on the project to work with David O. Russell on The Mission (a story about U.S. Navy Seal’s six-year-long rescue effort to free fifteen U.S. hostages from FARC rebels) he is currently their top choice. Here is the official synopsis for All You Need is Kill.

There's one thing worse than dying. It's coming back to do it again and again... When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the B*tch of War. Is the B*tch the key to Keiji's escape, or to his final death?

What do you guys think? Would you be interested in seeing an adaptation of the manga series? And how about Brad Pitt in the leading role? Be sure to share your thoughts on this news in the usual place!

I don't know alot about All You Need Is Kill, and i like Brad Pitt. But we need to start seeing some new blood when it comes to action movies.

I'm kinda iffy on Brad Pitt, but it'll really depend on who they get as director.

And, btw, it's not a manga, it's a novel. Some pretty decent Japanese prose SF and fantasy are getting translated over here.
