Director Mike Dougherty has taken to Twitter to announce that filming has officially wrapped on Legendary's upcoming Godzilla sequel, the tentatively titled Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

The film isn't slated to open until March 22, 2019, so it'll probably be quite some time before we see any sort of footage from the film as Dougherty and company head into an extensive post-production period. Also, based on how they rolled out Kong: Skull Island these past two years, it's probably a safe bet that the first teaser trailer will more likely than not be reserved for San Diego Comic-Con 2018.

The upcoming sequel, which will also serve as a precursor to 2020's Godzilla vs. Kong, stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Ken Watanabe, Charles Dance, Sally Hawkins, Bradley Whitford, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Thomas Middleditch, Aisha Hinds, and Zhang Ziyi.

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters features:

Vera Farmiga in an undisclosed role

@ODanil - It has some pacing/story issues in that the movie has a somewhat odd flow, but it's pretty darn good nonetheless. It's certainly not a bad movie.

I don't know if Garrett Edwards version is underrated, it made 5 times what it cost. Who knows why they didn't use it to build on though, it was good.
