Kong: Skull Island is dominating the box office this weekend, and is expected to likely exceed its projected $50 million opening, which should be the beginning of a solid box office run for the second installment in Legendary Entertainment's burgeoning MonsterVerse.

With a solid debut in the States, all eyes now look ahead to the film's release in China & Japan later this month, which are two dates that could ultimately make-or-break this film. However, if it manages to perform similarly to its predecessor Godzilla, which finished its run with $77.6 million in China & $29.9 million in Japan back in 2014, it should make for a more than satisfactory haul.

Seven new posters have been released, check them all out below:

Kong: Skull Island reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

Kong: Skull Island features:
Director: Jordan Vogt-Roberts
Tom Hiddleston as Captain James Conrad
Samuel L. Jackson as Lt. Col Packard
Brie Larson as Mason Weaver
John Goodman as William "Bill" Randa
John C. Reilly as Hank Marlow
Jason Mitchell as Glenn Mills
Corey Hawkins as Houston Brooks
Toby Kebbell as Jack Chapman
Terry Notary as King Kong (mo-cap)
Thomas Mann as Slivko
Shea Whigham as Cole
John Ortiz as Victor Nieves
Shawn Kavanaugh as Josh
Marc Evan Jackson as Woodward
Jing Tian as San
Eugene Cordero as Reles
Will Brittain as Young Marlow/Marlow's Son

And I really liked the design of Kong compared to a normal giant gorilla like Jacksons

I feel like nowadays pretty much every actor has been in a CBM. Looking at this film, five of the actors have or will be in the MCU.

@Valdez -...don't forget to add Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch from Godzilla!

@Valdez - its something me and my brother have come to notice a lot in the last 2 years since CBMs have increased in number, I remember us going to see Doctor Strange, and each one of the 4 trailers beforehand had at least 2 actors that were in CBMs...couldnt have said that 10 years ago, what a time to be alive.

Im nearly describing other movies with comic book characters most of the time (like Men in Black trilogy, Deadshot & General Chester Philips have to take down Kingpin in the first one, save Claire Temple in the 2nd one, and then in the 3rd one Deadshot's dad is Luke Cage, and he has to go back in time and team up with Thanos! haha)

eventually most of Hollywood will be playing comic book characters (minus the high and mighty actors who think themselves above it), but I suppose thats what will happen when theres thousands of comic book characters having sprung up in the last 70 years

@dancingmonkey08 - That's true. In a few decades, pretty much every major actor will have been in a CBM at one point. It's cool how the genre went from a joke to something everyone wants to be a part of.

i like that some people said this movie is weird in a good way because the director is also going to make the Metal Gear Solid movie and he needs all the weirdness he can get for that one

The movie was pretty awesome and the characters likeable. And Kong ruled of course.

I am definitely looking forward to see how this MonsterVerse develops.

Although I can't wait to see Kong to battle it out with Godzilla, I couldn't help but feel like Kong was short changed when it came to his CGI. To me, Peter Jackson's version, which is around 10 years old now, looked far more visually stunning...
